Ashley Martson, 90-day fiancé, clears the air over the age of her estranged husband Jay Smith when they met, revealing that Smith initially lied. The couple was featured in season 6 of the popular TLC series after Martson applied for a K1 visa for the Jamaican resident. Martson indicated earlier this month with In Touch Weekly that Smith was only 19 when they first started speaking.
“So I met Jay in January. He was 19. He told me he was 26. We talked for six months and then I asked for the K1, “the reality star revealed.” I asked him personal information and he said: ‘Oh, you have to call my mother. “I don’t know, play stupid. And so I called his mother and she was like “Jay is only 19.” I was like “What?”
Martson said that after learning the truth, she and Smith did not speak “for three weeks,” although they eventually started talking again and continued their relationship.
“I was already a little bit into that situation and I just went ahead,” she said. “So he was 19. That was in January, his birthday is in October, so he is now almost 22.”
Martson added that she initially did not think of doubting Smith’s age, because things are different in Jamaica.
“The thing is that you don’t use IDs for drinking in Jamaica. It is actually if you are old enough to order and pay for it, then it is yours in Jamaica. So I never thought about asking, “she said.
After making the knot and moving both their lives to the United States, things turned out to be less than ideal for the couple. After their relationship was startled by not one but two cheating scandals, Martson filed divorce papers in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, April 23. In the documents, her second divorce petition, she quoted that “the defendant committed adultery the marriage.”
Although both Martson and Smith initially kept details of their split relatively private, Martson has since claimed that there were “multiple cases” in which Smith cheated on her and that she “caught him in one of them”.
After their divorce, Smith spent most of July in ICE custody in Pennsylvania for violating a contactless order. Since his release, he is seen with his new girlfriend, Kayla O’Brien, who Martson claims to be pregnant with Smith’s child.
