90 Day Fiance: Before the third 90 Days season premiered on TLC on August 4, Angela and Michael are no strangers to reality TV.
Angela and Michael, whose formal name is Kehinde Ilesanmi, appeared earlier in season 2 of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days.
Angela was a 52-year-old nursing assistant for Hospice from Hazlehurst, GA, when she first met Michael, a 30-year-old from Nigeria, online.
Angela helped raise her six grandchildren and had previously been married and divorced at a young age. Angela never thought she would marry again until she met Michael on Facebook.
After a few months of talking over the telephone and social media, Angela traveled to Nigeria to meet Michael in person.
She was about to propose a marriage to Michael in Nigeria right away, but then she discovered some red flags, as Michael admitted that he had had oral sex from a woman in a club.
Angela therefore rejected her proposal and felt the need to get to know Michael better.
However, Angela also received numerous warnings from her friends that she was being scammed and cheated by Michael.
And Michael’s intentions were not entirely clear, because he really wanted to move to the United States. He even idolized President Donald Trump and said he wants to be a rich, successful businessman in America.
But that was the least of Angela and Michael’s problems, because they seemed to bicker more than they had during Angela’s short stay in Nigeria.
Angela, however, said she and Michael were doing well after each fight and really fell in love. Angela insisted that Michael had her heart and made her feel appreciated and desired.
She was therefore determined to continue the process of bringing Michael to the United States.
Meanwhile, Michael said he was looking forward to working on himself and improving himself so that he could become the man Angela wanted him to be.
But 90 Day Fiance: for the second 90-day season, Angela ended up being accused of destroying her bank account and telling him to “go to hell.” (Angela later said the incident was actually due to a bank ATM error).
Angela then broke up with Michael during the recordings of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days’ Season 2 Tell-All special after he called her his’ older ‘.
At the time, Angela insisted that she was repeatedly “done” with Michael, but that turned out not to be the case.
In September 2018, Michael reportedly told a fan who had responded to his Facebook page that he was “engaged” and expected to move to the US under “God’s grace” in 2019 before changing his privacy settings to publicly view his limit messages.
Then, days after 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days’ Season 2 Tell-All special broadcast on TLC in October 2018, Angela changed her relationship status to “Engaged” on Facebook.
A month later, Angela confirmed that she and Michael were still an item during an interview with In Touch Weekly.
“I’m in love with him. I don’t just love him. I can go further, but why? We’ve come that far,” Angela told the magazine at the time.
“Michael and I have been together before and we’re going to make it. It’s just going to be difficult. I miss him a lot and I want to be with him.”
During the new season of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days, Angela discussed how her relationship with Michael has evolved since their last appearance in the franchise.
“Michael and I have been engaged for about a year now. The truth is that we still have some problems, but I love him and I miss him, so I applied for a K-1 visa. And when he comes here, we will get married. I love him so much, “Angela told the cameras.
Angela, however, planned to return to Nigeria one last time pending approval of Michael’s visa.
Angela said that Michael had to prove that he would do anything to make her happy, especially because she had asked him to stop social media and he went ahead and put “showboating” photos with other women.
Angela spent their first time together with Michael for only two weeks, but she was still planning for their wedding anniversary in the United States. Angela therefore investigated a location called Cotton Patch, with a pond, gardens and fountains.
Angela wanted to have an American wedding followed by an African-style reception complete with fireworks and televisions to show her guests her journey with Michael from the start.
Angela was named $ 45,000 for the location and all her special details, which she thought was far too much and too overwhelming.
Angela hoped that she could make a decision “once and for all” whether Michael Degene was for her, because the last thing she wanted to do was blow a lot of money on her wedding and then have things that didn’t work out.
Angela later told her daughter Skyla that she loved Michael but wasn’t sure if she could trust him. Angela expressed Michael’s behavior on social media, but then revealed that he wants a baby and she probably hadn’t seen any of her age.
Angela asked Skyla to give her an egg so she could have a baby with Michael, but Skyla was totally against the idea because the child was technically her.
Angela therefore asked Skyla if she would consider carrying her baby as a surrogate mother, but Skyla also called that idea “crazy” and said her mother had not thought well.
Skyla, however, told Angela that she could “carry” the baby as soon as she and Michael settle together in their lives and really commit themselves to each other.
Angela later learned that the paperwork for Michael’s visa was being processed in California and it would take five to eight months to clear it up. She was warned by her lawyer to take this very seriously, because Michael who would come to the US would be a life-changing decision.
Angela still had her doubts.
Angela was also warned by the arrival of her lawyer Michael to America, which would cost her thousands of extra dollars and would be held financially responsible for him, even if their relationship didn’t work.
Angela said she loved Michael, but they needed to build trust in their relationship to get her ready for all this.
Michael, for example, apparently lied to Angela about going out on his birthday.
Michael told Angela that he would stay home and talk to her on his birthday, but apparently he didn’t answer his phone for a six-hour period. Angela said Michael again failed to keep his promises.
“He tells me what I want to hear and then he does what he wants,” Angela ventured to the cameras.
Michael explained that he had his phone with him, but was in a noisy place and could not answer the phone.
Angela was stressed because she worked hard to get Michael to America, double shifts and whatever at work, and he couldn’t even step outside to take her phone call and touch the base.
Angela considered canceling her trip to Nigeria. Angela was angry, not because Michael went out on his birthday, but because he had lied to her again.
Angela didn’t think Michael cared or respected her, and she said she wouldn’t bring him to America if he kept lying to her. But Michael told Angela he’d be fine with her and he loved her and missed her.
Angela said her next trip to Nigeria would “make or break” her relationship because she didn’t deserve to be treated that way.
In the last episode of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days, Angela was shown traveling to Nigeria to finally reunite with Michael after being apart for about a year.
“I’ve been waiting for this K-1 visa. It takes so long; I miss him,” Angela told the cameras.
“I also have to make sure he is the right one, so we really need this time together to make sure we do the right thing … We have to figure things out.”
Angela believed that Michael “constantly lied to her” and so they had to solve their problems before moving to the United States. However, Angela insisted that Michael was not a bad guy and she was really excited to see her “baby.”
As Angela flew to Nigeria, images showed that Michael was expecting her arrival. He met a number of his friends, who apparently thought Michael was beaten. Michael clearly tried to address and solve the problems Angela had with him.
“I don’t spend much time with them anymore. [Angela] now says I’m engaged, so I can’t do things like that,” Michael said in a confessional.
Michael’s friends poke fun at Angela’s age and say that Michael has changed since he met the “bossy” American woman. They also called Angela “a sugar mommy” because she had asked Michael to stop working and often sent him money to take care of things.
Michael’s friends were surprised that Michael let Angela be the head of the household, but Michael suggested that this was only temporary.
“Of course I miss working and going out, but I’m afraid Angela will get mad at me. Like when I went out on my birthday, she was super pissed off at me,” Michael told the cameras.
Michael’s friends wanted to see Angela, but he felt nervous about such a meeting because Angela reportedly didn’t like them. Michael’s intention for the trip was to regain Angela’s confidence, and so he didn’t want any new problems.
When Michael met Angela at the airport, they embraced and kissed each other. But Michael knew there was a lot at stake, because if Angela couldn’t grow to trust him, his chances of moving to the United States would be small.
Michael grumbled about how happy he was to see Angela because he had missed her “so, so much.”
But in a preview for the next episode that was broadcast on September 8, Angela yelled at the cameras: “I’m done with Michael for good!”
So did Angela and Michael’s relationship really end, or is the 90 Day Fiance couple still together?
Recently, in June 2019, Michael posted several photos of the couple on his Instagram account – including a selfie of them together.
In May 2019, Angela confirmed that the couple was still together, engaged and would return for season 3 of the 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days.
Angela was in New York City for a performance at the time and she spilled the beans to a fan who approached her for a photo of how she and Michael were still planning to tie the knot.
“We’re getting married! We’re filming now for 90 days! He’s coming here [to the United States],” Angela told the fan, according to In Touch.
When asked whether Michael has “learned how to act well” in recent months, Angela has said all good things about him.
“Yes girl, I just have to feed him some chicken and behind closed doors he doesn’t talk anymore,” Angela reportedly told her fan.
A month earlier, Michael went to Instagram and shared a photo of the couple from the moment they were filming the 90 Day Fiance spin-off.
“Forever and one more day,” Michael wrote with a heart at the time, showing that they were still together then.
