The relationship between Jenny and Sumit can crash and burn as soon as Jenny finds out that Sumit is married, and previews have shown that Jenny has a complete, heartbreaking meltdown.
So did the romance of Jenny and Sumit survive? Keep reading below to find the spoilers.
Jenny was a 60-year-old from Palm Springs, CA, and Sumit was a 30-year-old from Delhi, India, when she started starring in the debut season of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way.
Jenny, a divorced grandmother who had been married for 15 years, revealed at the premiere that she was born in 1957 and Sumit was born in 1988.
Their love story began when Jenny received a Facebook request from a young, handsome and buff man who claimed to be an English male model named Michael Jones.
After Jenny and “Michael” got to know each other better and developed mutual feelings, “Michael” decided to come clean and admit that he had perfumed Jenny.
Sumit, who lived with his parents in India and worked in a call center, actually acted as Michael all the time.
Sumit said he enjoyed talking to women online while he was working, and he said to the cameras, “I love white girls.”
Although Sumit initially lied to Jenny about his identity, Jenny – who still thought the real Sumit was cute and “cute” – decided to forgive him and continue their romantic relationship.
Apparently, love then flourished in a short period, despite their enormous age difference and the distance between them.
Jenny traveled to India to meet Sumit before the couple played the lead role on 90 Day Fiance, but the first four-month trip was aborted when Sumit heard that his parents rejected romance and did not allow them to get married.
Sumit’s mother was particularly upset because of old Jenny compared to her son.
Jenny and Sumit nevertheless continued their relationship long-distance anyway, and 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way allowed Jenny to move permanently to India so that she could be with Sumit forever.
Jenny moved with her life savings of $ 6,000 – which, according to a financial adviser, would only take six to nine months in India. She left her three daughters and four grandchildren in the name of love.
Jenny knew that living in India would be a challenge, but she hoped that she and Sumit would work it out together.
“Sometimes what you do out of love is incredible. You’re willing to take a risk and you just go for it,” Jenny said, adding that she couldn’t wait to be in her husband’s arms again.
“Who thinks they will start their lives again at the age of 60? I just really hope I do the right thing.”
When Sumit picked up Jenny at the airport, she soon discovered that he had found an apartment where they could stay.
Sumit had told his parents that he had to leave their house because of a job, but he wasn’t sure how long he could keep the lie.
“I lie because when my parents find out that Jenny is here, they are going to stop me,” Sumit told the cameras. “Now that we are together, I finally feel happy.”
Sumit loved Jenny, but he hated the idea of having to choose between his girlfriend and his parents.
After Jenny and Sumit found their new place together, they apparently made love and life was a dream – but the harsh reality of Jenny’s new living situation and culture began quickly when she realized she couldn’t even take a hot shower and traditional Indian clothing was not her style.
Sumit felt “a lot of mental pressure” because Jenny had given up so much for a life with him.
Sumit later revealed that he had left his job to arrange Jenny’s arrival and therefore did not work or work at that time.
Sumit resigned so that he could spend more time with Jenny, but she didn’t know how they were going to pay their bills and their rent. Jenny needed security and support in India, so the fact that Sumit stopped working felt “terrified.”
The couple not only needed money to get married, but Jenny would also have to wait a while to get a work permit to start making money herself. She wished that Sumit had involved her in his decision-making.
Jenny therefore wondered if Sumit was keeping something else away from her, but he insisted that he take care of her and that everything would be fine.
However, the couple received bad news when they met an immigration lawyer to discuss the marriage process.
Sumit and Jenny were told that they had to apply for marriage under the special marriage law by sending a letter to a clerk who would give the notification to “the place of residence.”
Jenny and Sumit had to inform the registrar’s office of their regular address, but that address should be the home of Sumit’s parents. The idea that a message about his marriage would be sent to his parents frightened Sumit.
“If they find out, everything will be ruined. That was the worst thing I’ve ever heard,” Sumit told the cameras.
Jenny then asked the lawyer if Sumit’s parents could object to the wedding, but the lawyer actually said that they should not worry about it.
“Whether [marriage] will be allowed or not depends on the law. Then you should go to court,” the lawyer said.
Jenny assumed that this meant she would have to fight to marry Sumit and hire lawyers. Jenny knew that this process would not be cheap and her heart fell in her stomach with the idea that it might not work out.
“I think we were both shocked,” Jenny commented.
Jenny feared that Sumit’s parents would rush into their apartment after receiving the marriage announcement and flipping out. Sumit told Jenny to keep her faith because he didn’t want her to leave him.
Jenny said it was almost impossible to maintain a long-distance relationship for six years, but they did and she considered this news a big blow. She was not aware of what would come of her relationship.
“Everyone needs to understand why. We love each other. No one can tell us apart. Whatever we have to do, I’ll do,” Sumit told Jenny as she cried in his arms.
Sumit told Jenny that if they sent a message to his parents’ house, they could only register to get married, then they had to do it.
Sumit said he was willing to face his parents’ objections and be strong for the love of his life.
The time also came with Jenny’s visa. She only had six months to get married in India, otherwise she would have to return to America.
“I can’t imagine that [Sumit] will let that happen,” Jenny told the cameras.
“I’m not going backwards,” Sumit promised his wife.
Later, Sumit felt compelled to go home and spend time with his parents to satisfy them and take away their worries. He thought he should make it up at home so his parents couldn’t cause problems between Jenny and herself.
Sumit did not know how long he had to stay with his parents, but Jenny only found it unacceptable in India.
Jenny was dependent on Sumit for everything in India, because she did not know the language and did not even know how to secure a rickshaw to travel.
Jenny complained that life would be “impossible” without Sumit, so she was angry that he couldn’t give her a clear answer. Jenny didn’t even feel comfortable staying alone in their apartment.
“Again, I’ve been abandoned and injured. I’m actually in shock! I don’t know what to think about this and I don’t know what to do,” Jenny complained.
Sumit told Jenny to stay home, watch TV, and he would make sure he gave her a supply of food. Sumit did not want his parents to ruin his relationship, so he said he should go home and that they had no other option.
Jenny was upset because he had already broken some promises to her, but he promised to return to her soon.
“My heart is broken. I have put all my trust and confidence in him. I have come to India to be with him; I have not come to India to go back to his parental home. That was not the deal,” Jenny vented into a confessional.
Sumit was sad to leave Jenny alone, but he insisted that he do this for her and their relationship.
While Sumit stayed in his parents’ house for a few days because they were suspicious about his whereabouts, Jenny tried to search for an employment agency alone. However, she didn’t even know how to pin a rickshaw.
Jenny hoped to find a job, but a representative from an employment agency told her she needed a work visa and it would be illegal to work unless she was married to someone in India.
Sumit was angry when he discovered that Jenny had left their apartment at night because it was “very serious” and he was worried about her safety. Jenny said she wouldn’t have to do things like that if Sumit stayed at her place.
“I feel like your mistress … or something because you’re hiding me from everyone,” Jenny said. “It feels terrible, I am supposed to be the woman you are in love with.”
Sumit insisted it wasn’t, but Jenny told Sumit to come home or he would force her to return to America.
Sumit had to stay with his parents for two weeks to calm the water, and he was well aware that Jenny was angry.
Sumit therefore decided to take Jenny to a holy place where they could talk and he was not allowed to lie.
Jenny said she had two months on her visa and wanted to get married – or else she would have to leave the country – so she couldn’t wait much longer. Jenny doubted that Sumit would put her first because his family apparently had a lot of power over him.
“They yell at me, threaten me. I can’t tell my parents because they are going to say something to Jenny, “Sumit said to the cameras and added that he didn’t want them to scare Jenny away.
Sumit insisted that he would never continue to love Jenny and that he wanted to marry her. He therefore suggested that they hold a ring ceremony, which would mean that they are engaged.
Jenny was crying because this was all she had been waiting for; however, she did not know how Sumit would pass his family.
“It’s going to happen for us. I love you,” Sumit told Jenny as the couple hugged.
Jenny and Sumit were planning to hold their ring ceremony in a few days, so the couple went to a local market and Jenny wanted to show that she had taken care of cooking his favorite Indian meal. Jenny wanted to show Sumit that she was trying and adapting to life in India.
Sumit said it was “so nice” from Jenny and made him emotional that she put so much effort into their relationship.
Jenny’s daughter Christina and her wife Jen later surprised Jenny in India.
Jenny and Sumit got the couple to eat out at a restaurant. Sumit was so happy to meet Jenny’s child and Sumit grumbled about how much he loved Jenny.
Christina asked Sumit to share his long-term plans and Sumit said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Jenny. Sumit said he was thinking of Jenny even when they were in different rooms in the same apartment.
Sumit explained that he and Jenny would hold a ring ceremony to strengthen their love, meaning they had every intention of getting married.
But because of his family’s disapproval, Sumit admitted that none of his family members would attend the ring ceremony. Sumit did not want his family to end the ceremony.
“So when they come and you see them start to cry – like your mother and your father – then you say,” Sorry, Jenny, I can’t do this “and then go back to your family?” Jenny asked.
Sumit nodded his head and Jenny was pissed off and said, “Interesting.”
Christina told Sumit if he chose his parents’ side, he is “not a strong man”. Christina wanted Sumit to “interfere” and choose to be fat and thin with Jenny.
Sumit insisted that he should not end his relationship, but Christina’s wife pointed out that Sumit clearly did not know what he wanted. Sumit explained that it is difficult for a man to work around the parameters of his parents in India, very different from the culture in the United States.
Christina was not in India to judge Sumit, but she advised him to face his parents and face the problem – because sooner or later he would be forced to face it.
During the last episode of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, Christina warned her mother when she left India that Jenny would be home in two months if Sumit could not figure out what was going on with his parents.
Jenny loved Sumit, but Christina was fed up with her mother giving Sumit so much time – seven years to be precise – to make things right. Christina asked Jenny to stand up for herself, but Jenny was not ready to give up and go home.
Jenny was confident that Sumit loved her and wanted to marry her. She chose to believe Sumit’s words and promises, and only hoped that Sumit would tell his parents about their relationship in time.
Christina was afraid that Jenny was “bewitched” and would eventually get hurt, but she begged her mother to get up, make demands, and turn Sumit into a man. Christina wanted Sumit to grow up and take care of her mother.
Sumit later told Jenny that he should talk to his parents before continuing the ring ceremony. Jenny was upset because she wasn’t sure if Sumit ever planned to hold the ring ceremony or marry her.
Sumit even admitted that he didn’t have to buy her a ring.
“Do what you say you are going to do!” Jenny screamed at Sumit.
Sumit asked for more time, but Jenny didn’t think he deserved more time. Jenny had left her job, car and children because she had chosen to trust Sumit.
Sumit felt terrible because he made Jenny think he was not a trustworthy person. Jenny said she wouldn’t stay in India while Sumit tried to decide if he wanted to tell his parents about their romance.
Jenny threatened to return to America and never return, and accused Sumit of making her look like “a fool.”
“Doesn’t he understand that I can’t stay in India without being married to him? What does he not get?!” Jenny vented into a confessional.
Sumit told Jenny that he loved her, but Jenny demanded that he “make a damn decision” between her and his parents.
However, Sumit told the cameras that he had kept a big secret for Jenny.
And then Sumit dropped a huge bomb on viewers and revealed that he was married at the time!
So did Jenny still stay with Sumit after finding out he was married? Are Jenny and Sumit still together?
According to the Instagram accounts of Jenny and Sumit, they are still together and happy!
The pair apparently live in the city of Gurgaon, about two hours outside of Delhi, India.
Although the Instagram page of Sumit is mostly full of selfies, his profile picture contains Jenny. And Jenny’s profile photo on Instagram also includes Sumit.
Jenny has placed countless photos of herself in India, with and without Sumit. They seem to be happy and in love.
Jenny recently shared photos on September 8 on her couple’s Instagram account and her adventures in India.
On September 8, Jenny shared a photo of herself while standing in front of a food truck, and a few days earlier she shared photos of her daughter exploring India.
Jenny shared a series of photos on 26 August. One was Sumit in Pune, India; another showed the couple filming in “a cool old house” that seemed to be absolutely in India, and Jenny who smoked Hooka.
Jenny added hashtags such as #no haters, #real love and #love wins, which clearly says they are still an item.
And a week earlier Jenny shared a photo of Sumit and called him “my hero.”
Jenny also shared a photo on August 11 of the couple holding hands and wrote it: “Beautiful place in New Delhi, India # 90daystheotherway #sumitandjenny #realitytvstars # tlc # Monday night # 90dayfiance #realitytv #ourloveourlife.”
That same day she posted a photo of the happy couple who were sitting in the grass.
“A day in Lodhi Garden, New Delhi … and I wear leggings #sumitandjenny # 90daystheotherway # 90dayfiance # 90dayfiancepillowtalk #realtytvstars # realitytv # tlc # ourlife # blend_it_boo #ourhappiness,” she wrote next to the image.
It seems that Jenny has embraced Indian style and culture.
On August 2, Jenny shared a selfie of the couple and a photo of Starbucks in India, which Jenny said she felt she was back home in the United States. She even added the hashtag #iloveindia.
On July 30, Jenny showed the view from the terrace of her apartment in Gurgaon, India and called it ‘beautiful’.
A week earlier, the two visited the Red Fort in New Delhi and boasted how their love is “real”.
“I love this man so much. I don’t care what anyone thinks. He is the best for me. #SumitandJenny # 90daythotherway #fightforlove # tlc90dayfiance,” Jenny repeated on July 15 when she posted a photo of the couple together.
Jenny had also gushed around that time how their “love will win” on Instagram.
“We love each other,” she added to her social media account in mid-July.
The couple apparently likes to go out for a drink and a beer together.
On June 20, Jenny posted a photo of Sumit with the caption, “I love you Jenny,” written over the image.
“To the moon and back. Sumit and Jenny, “Jenny wrote her post.
All messages from Jenny are also decorated with hearts and kissing emojis.
However, Jenny confused some of her Instagram followers, as some of her posted photos were taken back in the United States. She clarified on May 31: “Must leave the country every 180 days. So stupid.”
Whether or not the 180-day limit means that the couple is not yet married is unclear, since the direct evidence of a marriage is yet to come up, although Jenny still lives in Sumit’s homeland.
