British Open leaderboard: Live coverage, Tiger Woods score, golf scores on Friday

The Open Championship returned to Royal Portrush after an absence of 68 years on Thursday … and what was it in common. Only about a quarter of the field ended the first round under par, and some of the biggest stars in the world flirt not only with the cut line, but even at the bottom of the rankings.

Landman and track record holder Rory McIlroy shot an 8-over 79 to 18 holes, his second worst round in Open play. Tiger Woods was only one blow ahead, and although Woods played much better in round 2, he is expected to miss the cut of 6. It will be his seventh missed attempt in 13 majors dating back to 2014. J.B. Holmes continued his great piece from Thursday with a 68 on Friday to keep the clubhouse at 8. Tommy Fleetwood and Jordan Spieth both placed 67’s early in the day, the second best rounds of the event back from Holmes ’66 on Thursday.

CBS Sports is with you all the way on Friday to update this story with the latest scores, analyzes and highlights from round 2 of the Open Championship 2019. If you cannot view the live updates below, click here.
