The Cleveland Browns gave his request to Duke Johnson Jr. on Thursday. and the dissatisfied riders returned to Texas, Texas, for a sketch.
The deal is said to be for a pick in the fourth round that can become a pick in the third round if Johnson plays more than 10 games. It was a hefty price for the Texans to pay for Johnson, who mainly functioned as the Browns third back since he entered the competition in 2015. He has never rushed more than 379 meters.
The #Browns got a fourth-rounder that can become a third rounder for Duke Johnson. If it does become a third, I believe it will be the highest RB compensation since Trent Richardson went for a first.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) 8 Ağustos 2019
Johnson asked for an exchange after the Browns announced they had brought a free agent and 2017 NFL leader Kareem Hunt, who was released by the Kansas City Chiefs after disturbing video of him kicking a woman and pushing it into a public hotel made. Johnson has spent his entire four-year career with the Browns.
Last season Johnson had 47 receptions for 429 yards and three touchdowns. He does most of his damage in the passing game. Johnson had 40 bears for 201 yards on the ground and both his number of bears and catches were career lows.
Nick Chubb is Atop the Browns Depth Chart
For his second year in Cleveland, Nick Chubb is firmly installed as a starter for the Browns. He was healthy in this training camp, looked sharp in his repetitions and continued to improve his pass by jumping out of the back field.
Chubb, a product from Georgia, started nine games last season, with a speed of 996 yards. He would have overshadowed the much needed 1,000-yard mark, but had his last run of his rookie season go for a five-yard loss, making him go back to triple. He has his head coach Freddie Kitchens firmly on his side.
“Let me tell you something about Nick Chubb, and it summarizes it for him. He went over 1,000 meters and then the next carry was for a loss of three or four – I don’t know the details – and no word was said about it, not a word. I even apologized, but no word was said about going upstairs and less than 1,000 after he had 1,000, “the kitchen said. “That tells you what Nick Chubb is for what he is here and how he approaches the game, and what the game is all about for him. It’s about winning. It’s about winning a championship. It is about putting yourself in the best possible position to succeed individually and collectively as a team. “
Chubb also caught 20 balls for 149 yards and two touchdowns, but is expected to play a greater role in the receiving game this year, especially now that Johnson is gone.
Kareem Hunt Brings New Wrinkle, But Will Miss Half the Season With Ban
Hunt has stretched 2,151 exciting yards, 833 yards in his first two seasons. He made the Pro Bowl in 2017 as the league’s leading rusher and was on pace for another strong season before being released by the Chiefs last season.
He is so far compliments of his next backfield friend Chubb.
“Chubb is a beast. He’s a freak. The man is running fast and I respect his game a lot. I love the way he runs football. “
The Browns decided to take a bet out of season when signing Hunt, who is looking for a second chance after a disturbing incident in which he was caught on video kicking and pushing a woman in a hotel in Cleveland. General Manager John Dorsey had an earlier relationship with Hunt after he had set him up in Kansas City, making Browns feel comfortable on board.
Hunt started his camp on the active / non-football injury list with a groin injury and made his debut during the weekend at the Orange and Brown Scrimmage.
Hunt must submit a suspension of eight games for violating the competition’s personal conduct policy. He can participate in the Browns preseason competitions. When he is officially back in action, the Browns have one of the best 1-2 punches in the competition.
Dontrell Hilliard Poised For Breakout Year With Browns
Because Johnson was dissatisfied most of the low season and had missed all the OTAs, it was Hilliard who was able to make a name for himself at training camp with an increased workload.
“Dontrell continues to work,” said kitchens. “I am satisfied with Dontrell. It is not an end product. He has to keep working. We will see what we have at the end of it all. “
Hilliard was picked up by the Browns as an unsigned free agent last season outside of Tulane and spent the first month of the season with the exhibition team. After being elevated to the active roster, he appeared in 11 games but received no carry. However, he caught nine balls for 105 yards and could be in the mix to kick back.
Even with only a limited amount of time on the field, running feels like the game has slowed down a bit.
“You always play on instinct and ability. At the same time, I now understand, so I see certain fronts there to recognize where my hole will be, instead of just going to press and press and hope, “Hilliard said. “Now I know exactly where to go, so it’s a better chance for me to read and move on to second-level defenders.”
D’Ernest Johnson, Trayone Gray and A.J. Ouellette Round Out Depth Chart
The Browns are likely to stay three on the active roster, but have a number of guys competing for the final places.
The Browns signed unsigned rookie D’Ernest Johnson this offseason after his stint in the AAF. He finished his year with the Orlando franchise third in the competition in a rush with 372 yards on 64 bears and two scores. Johnson played at USF and is the leader of the all-purpose yardage program (4,186).
Rookie Trayone Gray has recently been activated from the list of active / non-football injuries. He had a calf injury. Gray appeared in 10 hurricane competitions last year, with a speed of just 83 yards and two touchdowns.
The Browns signed A.J. in Ohio. Ouellette during training camp to fill the depth chart when Hunt, Johnson and Gray were all sidelined. He was previously an unsigned free agent originally with the saints. He played his college ball at the University of Ohio.
