Charlize Theron has revealed that she is raising her first child as a girl after introducing her to the world as a boy for the first time.
The Oscar-winning actress said seven-year-old Jackson – one of her two adopted children – was three when the younger said, “I’m not a boy.”
The 43-year-old star has now said that she is raising “two beautiful daughters.”
She told the Daily Mail: “Yes, I thought she was a boy too. Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said,” I’m not a boy! “
“There you go! I have two beautiful daughters who, like every parent, want to protect and I want to do well.
“They are born who they are and exactly where in the world they can both find themselves when they grow up, and who they want to be is not up to me to decide.
“My job as a parent is to celebrate and to love them and to make sure they have everything they need to be what they want to be.
“And I will do everything to ensure that my children have that right and are protected.”
The Monster Star adopted Jackson in 2012 and her other daughter, August, was adopted three years later.
This is not the first time the actress refers to two daughters. During an actor segment for variety show in December last year, she told Black Panther actor Michael B Jordan that she has “two young beautiful, black, African-American girls.”
