Savannah Chrisley, daughter of reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, has spoken about the shock and emotional reaction her parents showed upon hearing their guilty verdict in their tax fraud case in June 2022. Speaking on the Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe podcast, Savannah recalled the moment in court when the verdicts were read out, saying her parents were “just in tears” and that they were not expecting to be found guilty. The couple began serving their prison sentences in August 2022.
Savannah Chrisley reiterated her belief that her parents are innocent and that the pair plan to file an appeal soon, which she believes will highlight “the errors within the court”. She also spoke about the difficulties of the trial, saying that it “took three days for the verdict to come back” following a month-long trial, and that the government had been on a “witch hunt” against her parents.
Despite the challenges her family is facing, Savannah Chrisley remains positive about the future, saying that she has “so much hope and so much restored strength” after visiting her father in prison, and that she believes that her family’s story will make a difference and create change.
Todd and Julie Chrisley were indicted on 12 counts, including wire fraud and conspiracy to commit bank fraud, in August 2019. They both pleaded not guilty, but were found guilty on all counts by an Atlanta federal jury in June 2022. Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Julie was given a seven-year sentence.
