Cillian Murphy is said to be in conversation with the cast of the sequel to A Quiet Place.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Peaky Blinders star may be about to sign up for the long-awaited follow-up.
Emily Blunt will rename her role as Evelyn Abbott and will be accompanied by children’s stars Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe who are also back for the sequel.
John Krasinski, who played as Lee in the first film, will be in the director’s seat again this time.
And when he draws on the dotted line, Murphy plays “a man with mysterious intentions who joins the family,” said the Hollywood Reporter.
The film starts filming in the summer and is produced by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
A quiet place was a huge hit – popular with the public and critics and bringing in as much as $ 340 million worldwide, which is even more impressive when you consider that it had a budget of around $ 17 million.
Because of the huge success of the original film, you would think that writing a sequel would be a non-brainer, but Krasinski was not always so sure.
In an interview with Deadline he admitted: “I am surprised that people are not like,” No, we know what this is, and we just want to leave it as it is. “
Add: “To be completely honest, it was never really in my mind when we made it. I never really saw it as an expanded world, I always considered it a one-off.
“What I liked so much in the movie, where my thoughts wandered around while we were making it, was the question who was on the other side of those fires, when the father lights the fire and lights those other fires in the distance.
“How did those people survive, how did the old man survive?
“In the extreme these characters go on, there is no room to think about it. They are there, there is an old man about to scream, they are just dealing with it. I think it would be interesting to see what’s going on elsewhere at the same time. “
He also teased that the new film focused on new characters, and revealed: “We have the world, and you can drop everyone you want into that world and everyone feels connected to it.
“The reason I decided to go back was that this world is so rich, and it’s so much fun to explore. There are so many different things to see now, everyone in the world is experiencing this, so I’m curious what that looks from a different perspective. “
Sounds like a great moment for Murphy to shine in my opinion.
Paramount said the sequel will be released on May 15, 2020.
