'Counting On': Will Jessa and Ben break a rule?

The Duggar family has been one to follow for years, from their first show 19 Kids and Counting to the spin-off Counting On.

Following in the footsteps of the older Duggar kids and their new families, Counting On has been a favorite with fans. And it seems fans get most excited when a Duggar kid – especially the girls – breaks a family rule. The latest to break a rule? Jessa and Ben Seewald.

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald

Jessa was the first Duggar girl in court, although she wasn’t the first to get married. When she married Ben, they immediately started their family. Their newest addition is baby girl Ivy Jane. With two boys in front of her, she is the first girl to join the family in their little two-bedroom house. A house that would be so little for any family, but it could be a real problem for Jessa and Ben.

The Duggar rules

Rules are a big part of Duggar’s lifestyle. They are known for their strict and restrictive rules that also mean that their girls have to be pretty submissive. None of the Duggar girls graduated because they were raised to believe that men are the breadwinners and that they have to raise children.

They can’t kiss or even hold hands before marriage, although some of these rules are thought to have become a little loose. But there are other rules in abundance while you are under the roof of the Duggar, such as no pants for the women, no beaches allowed, no boys staring at pretty girls, no dancing, limited access to media and TV, and no drinking.

However, when they left the nest, the Duggar children were caught defying mom and dad a few times. That’s normal, right?

Will Jessa and Ben break a rule?

Jessa is one of the more outspoken girls in the family. Maybe that’s part of the reason why she’s a fan favorite and worried fans when they thought she would leave the show.

She has considered breaking the rules before and even has a time or two. Like when she wanted a hospital birth instead of a home birth for Ivy Jane. She may do it again, but this time it has to do with opposite sexes who don’t share a room. With a two-bedroom house, Ivy Jane is fine in her crib in Jessa and Ben’s room, but what about the time for her own room? Will she share it with her brothers?

They don’t seem to be moving any time soon. And Jessa has already said that it’s hard in a smaller house because they share one closet for the whole family.

House renovations

Maybe they’re not moving at the moment, but they’ve just completed some renovations to their house. With the help of her brothers, they added a deck to the house in time for the baby’s arrival.

Fans all thought they would definitely add a room because all three children will be pretty cramped in one room, not to mention that whole rule breaking problem. Some even pointed out that if she follows her pattern, she will be pregnant again by the time Ivy Jane is 2.

With brothers who know carpentry so well and even turn houses around, it’s definitely an interesting choice that they haven’t added a room or move. Maybe it had something to do with their finances, which they didn’t agree on earlier in the show. Whatever the reason, they stayed.
