Spoilers of the General Hospital (GH) for Monday 9 December reveal that Peter August (Wes Ramsey) ordered an accomplice on the phone to stop the memory procedure of Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) … even if he was Franco or Andre Maddox (Anthony had to kill Washington). Then he saw Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) standing nearby and lied and claimed that he was on the phone with a worker. Anna didn’t buy it all, and the two of them sat down for a drink and a chat.
While they were talking, the conversation focused on how Peter still doubted himself, even though this was a happy time for him, when he moved in with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). Anna gave him a pep talk and remarked that he could create his own destiny and that he was a good man. And so Peter apologized abruptly and tried to call the accomplice again to cancel the memory procedure, without result. Anna then caught Peter again and demanded to know what was going on.
In the meantime “Drew Cain” aka Franco prepared for the memory procedure to start at GH. He spoke briefly with Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), Cameron Webber (William Lipton) and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and seemed to have resigned himself to the procedure. During all these conversations, Peter’s armed accomplice watched and moved through the corridors, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Finally, Andre took Franco to the treatment room, where Elizabeth told him that she would never forget him, and “Drew” who told her to be happy. Peter’s accomplice followed Andre and Franco, threw his burner phone in the garbage can as he chased them… just when Peter was trying to call him to turn down the hit. But the accomplice didn’t get the call and kept chasing Andre and Franco.
Andre then had Franco draw a “non resuscitate” form and sedate him, while the accomplice, now in the hospital scrubbing, peered into the room. In the waiting room, Elizabeth, Cameron and Scott held hands and made a conscious attempt to believe that Franco would be back soon.
Then Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) spoke to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) at The Metro Court. Valentin informed Nina of his burglary in the gallery of Ava Jerome (Maura West) and the mysterious man in the mask who was also there. Nina did not let it be known that she knew that the mysterious man was Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma), nor that she was in possession of Nikolas’ badge ring.
In the city, Ava appeared in her gallery and Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) explained that she had checked out of Shadybrook and was back at work. Trina informed her of the recent burglary in the gallery and Ava gave some indications that the portrait was hidden somewhere in the gallery – perhaps behind another painting.
Ava was then visited by Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen), and the two had a civil conversation, although they did discuss the fact that Griffin still believes that Ava is her own worst enemy. Ava unfortunately remarked that Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) would probably want to differ. Ava heard about the condition of Griffin’s Lucas Jones (Ryan Carnes) and she staggered and said she hoped that her brother wouldn’t experience the loss of a child, because it’s an unbearable pain.
Griffin finally left when Nina arrived at the gallery. Nina informed Ava that there were actually two break-ins in the gallery last night and that both Valentin and Nikolas were looking for the portrait. Nina then showed Ava Nikolas’ ring and reminded Ava that ghosts don’t wear rings and that Nikolas had one of the few such rings that existed.
Ava seemed a bit skeptical and Nina increased the pressure on her and said that it’s time for her to do something, and that the ring proves that Nikolas is alive. Nina insisted that they should join forces and defeat the Cassadine boys once and for all.
Finally, an annoyed Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) opened his front door to find Nikolas, whose key didn’t work. Turns out Jax changed his locks and told Nikolas that his bags were full and that he wanted it gone. Nikolas protested and claimed that Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) trusted them, but Jax said he had enough and that Nikolas had played the Spencer card enough.
Nikolas then admitted that he couldn’t get the portrait, which Jax absolutely couldn’t believe, and they debated about it and about Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig), who tried to call Jax but couldn’t reach him. Soon Nikolas realized that his badge ring was missing, and he panicked until the door was knocked – it was Valentin, who shouted through the door to Jax and told them to put all their cards on the table.
