Hilaria Baldwin opened up just like Ireland Baldwin’s step-parent and praises her mother, Kim Basinger, in the process.
“I rarely talk about being a stepmother, but it is part of our family. I always want to treat it with so much care … so often you hear horror stories about bad stepparents and I wanted to make sure I did well at the family that I went to when I married Alec. I love my stepdaughter as much as my biological children and become a mother lioness when I see comments that insinuate otherwise, “Hilaria wrote on Instagram.
“Having a stepchild is a delicate matter. Especially someone who is mature. I think my relationship with her has been so successful because I have never tried to step in as her mother. She has a good mother, where I have enormous I have a lot of respect for it … and I put myself in Kim’s shoes: if my children ever had a stepmother, I wish they would let me be number one, “Hilaria continued.
“When I met Ireland, I told Alec: if she’s not doing well with our relationship, I can’t go any further. Family is the first and she had to be okay with me. We never had a fight or a bad moment. Not me with her mother either, “she continued.
“Ireland and I love each other and she knows that I am here for her … and I know that she is here for me. I am inspired by her, look up at her (not just in height 😂) … she gave her father away at our wedding, is the best big sister anyone can ask … and I give her the space, “Hilaria added.
“I never expect her to be someone other than herself. As someone who loves her, it was my job not to step in and take over … but rather to respect what the first 15 years of her life had been and to become a part of it in a way that works for everyone So yes, sometimes my language about my biological children doesn’t contain her Because I didn’t give birth to her and I never want to fail to respect the fact that she’s a great mother But this will never take away how much I love her, need her in my life and think she is one of the best things that ever happened to me, “Hilaria concluded.
