The love story of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been considered by some as a swirling romance. They dated just over a year before they became engaged in November 2017. They were married then in May 2018. Some fans find this a bit fast. This is why Harry and Meghan may have tied the knot so fast.
How Prince Harry and Meghan Markle met
Prince Harry and Meghan met for the first time like many ordinary people. The pair was introduced on a blind date in July 2016. “We were actually introduced by a mutual friend,” said Prince Harry in an interview with the BBC after their announcement of the assignment. He spoke about their early dates in London and the only special date they had when they camped under the stars for five days in Botswana. Prince Harry said that the date was that they were all alone for a longer period and that they really got to know each other.
Meghan Markle doesn’t consider her relationship with Prince Harry to be a whirlwind
Prince Harry and Meghan looked so in love when they told the BBC their story. At one point the host asked if the couple thought their romance was a whirlwind and they said they didn’t. This is what Meghan had to say:
I don’t think I’d call it a whirlwind in terms of our relationship. It is clear that there are layers connected to how public it became after we had a good five or six months almost just privacy, which was great. I think we really had so much time to connect. And we have never been without seeing each other for more than two weeks, although we clearly had a long-distance relationship. So we made it work.
This could be why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got married so quickly
It is possible that Meghan’s citizenship played a role in the wedding timeline. Jason Knauf, Prince Harry‘s secretary, told the BBC that despite Meghan’s fame she would not receive special treatment when it came to applying for British citizenship. Part of the process requires securing a visa to stay in the country before citizenship can even be discussed. In addition, it is necessary for a couple to get married within six months in order to maintain the validity of the visa.
