Jill Duggar lets her kids watch some TV shows

Jill Duggar was only 13 years old when his family first appeared in a 2004 TLC special entitled 14 Children and Pregnant Again! Since then, his family has starred in several more TLC specials, a reality television show that lasted 10 seasons and a spin-off, Counting On, which aired since 2015.

But it turns out that as a child, 19 Kids and Counting was not an unmissable television in the Duggar house. The mother of two 28-year-old children has revealed that the family did not tune in regularly to watch their own program.

The Duggars didn’t have TV

At the beginning of their marriage, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar decided to ban television in their home.

“I grew up watching TV, but when we got married, a doctor friend of ours encouraged us not to have a pet or a television the first year of marriage. So we did that, ”Jim Bob told the Huffington Post in 2011. He said that eventually, someone gave the couple a television. But he and Michelle quickly realized that they were spending so much time stuck to the tube that they didn’t communicate with each other. In addition, they were surprised by the content of the programs they were watching.

“We prayed about it and we felt we had to get it out of our house, which we did. And I would say that it is one of the best things we have done for our family, ”he explained.

As a result of that decision, the Duggar children grew up without watching television. And that did not change once the family began to become television stars in their own right.

The Duggars saw rough cuts of their show

Once the Duggars started appearing on their own reality show, you might have thought that Jim Bob and Michelle would relax on the no television rule. But that was not the case, Jill explained in an Instagram post on November 21. Although the family did see fragments of the program, they didn’t usually tune in when it was broadcast on TLC.

“Growing up in the Duggar family, they gave us the cuts of the programs before they went on the air and we were able to edit a little if necessary, but since we didn’t have television, we usually only saw it on television when we visited a relative, friend or in a hotel with cable, ”he recalled.

Jill is an adult now, and doesn’t seem to have a television in her family’s house. However, it has not banned screen time completely for your children. She shared the anecdote about her own experience watching television after her son Israel got excited when she heard the Duggars mentioned in “one of the family shows” that she let her children watch.

After a commenter asked him if he had a television, Jill clarified that his family watches things on a laptop.

She says she has no plans to return to ‘Counting On’

In the comments, Jill also addressed a question that has been on the minds of many Counting On fans: will she and her family ever return to the show? Not likely, says Jill.

“They ask us a lot … There are no plans to do it currently,” he wrote. “Everything was simply too much for our little family, so we decided to get away from it all a couple of years before the birth of our second child.”
