Kate Middleton and Prince William Just Cuddled Up Under an Umbrella — Just Like Meghan and Harry!

Kate Middleton and Prince William don’t let a little rain dampen their day at Royal Ascot!

Cloudy skies hovered over the opening ceremony of the iconic horse race event on Tuesday, causing horse-drawn carriages to bring members of the royal family onto the racetrack to drop part of their procession onto the racetrack.

After accepting their carriage ride with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Kate and William were happy to greet other family members before going to the royal coffin. And when the rain came down again, William was armed with a black umbrella that he held above himself and his wife. The couple continued to laugh and chat with other guests under the shield of their shared umbrella.

Princess Kate wore a corny blue dress with pure sleeves from Elie Saab and a matching hat from Philip Treacy with a floral detail for the occasion, while Prince William appeared neat in a top hat and suit with blue accents.

The sweet moment was reminiscent of when the rain fell on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry during their royal tour through Australia in October. The unexpected showers were a welcome surprise for the farming community of Dubbo, who has experienced major drought problems in recent years and the royal couple liked to cuddle under an umbrella.

The prince kept his pregnant wife dry because they share the same umbrella in the same way. Before giving a speech to the crowd, he gave Meghan the umbrella so she could stay dry.

But Meghan did not want her husband to get wet, so she followed him to the podium and protected him from the rain as he spoke to the locals who had come out to see them.

And when they walked under their own umbrellas later in the day, they managed to stay close by holding each other’s hands.

Several members of the royal family accompanied Queen Elizabeth for the first day of the iconic Tuesday five-day horse race event, including Kate, Prince William, Prince Charles and Camilla. Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice and Zara Tindall were also present – with blue as the trendy color for the women to wear.

While the Duchess of Sussex made her first post-baby show at Trooping the Color (an important family event) earlier this month, she is still on maternity leave and is probably home at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor with son Archie, who was born 6 May.

While Meghan is likely to take maternity leave of three to five months, with possible public appearances that have already been added, Harry has not taken paternity leave. He continues to hold public appearances, including trips to Rome for a charity polomatch and to the Netherlands to start the countdown to the 2020 Invictus Games.

It is possible that royal fans see Prince Harry – dressed in fashion in a suit and top hat – attending the Royal Ascot without his wife later this week.
