Kevin Hart was released from the Los Angeles hospital where he spent the last 10 days, following a car accident in which he suffered serious back injury.
According to TMZ, Hart was transferred to an inhabited rehabilitation center where he undergoes intensive physiotherapy. He is expected to stay there for about a week, as the three spinal fractures caused by the crash continue to heal. Sources told the site that he is “happy” to be out of the hospital and that he is grateful that he is alive.
Hart was sitting on his passenger seat in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda at around 1:00 am when the driver, his friend Jared Black, rode down the Mulholland Highway in Malibu and landed in a ditch. E! reports that Black had flown in from the scene and that his current condition is unknown. Black’s fiance, Rebecca Broxterman, was also in the car and sustained minor injuries.
Hart had bought the car in July for his 40th birthday.
Earlier this week, Hart’s friend, Jumanjii, assured co-star and … father? … fans that Hart did well. Per people:
“Everything is fine, I spoke to Kevin, I actually refer him as my son,” Johnson joked, 47. “These things happen in life, and thank goodness he was firmly tied to his car seat. We spoke to his pediatrician and he is doing very well. He has the buttocks that he couldn’t be here, as you know, but I love the man. He is one of my best friends. Thank goodness it could have been a lot worse. He is a happy man. I wish him the best. “
