Lauren and Josiah Duggar Tried Conceiving Firstborn ‘for Quite a While’ Following Miscarriage

Stars of Counting On, Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson Duggar, have just welcomed their first baby, Bella Milagro. After a heartbreaking miscarriage, the new parents revealed that they were trying to conceive their rainbow baby “for a while.”

Lauren was featured in the reality TV program 19 Kids and Counting by the Duggar family in 2010 for an episode when the Swanson family, who had eight children of their own, visited the Duggar. The families knew one and the other and this is how Lauren and Josiah got to know each other. In December 2017, Josiah asked Lauren if she wanted to start a courtship and the two were married by June 2018. In February 2019, the couple announced the heartbreaking news that they had missed their first child in October last year. The couple then revealed in May 2019 that they would expect their rainbow baby. After a long and difficult delivery, Lauren gave birth to Bella Milagro Dugger, whose name means “beautiful miracle”.

In a sneak preview clip (via Us Weekly) of a scene from an upcoming episode of Counting On, Josiah and Lauren tell their family that they are expecting their wonder baby. In the clip, the Duggar family and their individual families are together for one big camping trip where everyone sits on a campsite and eats hot dogs. Josiah says to his family: “We are expecting” and Josiah’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, give the couple big hugs and congratulate them. Lauren speaks to the camera about the difficulties they had to make their little one pregnant. The 20-year-old said in a confessional during the clip: “We had been trying for a while after the miscarriage, and when we found out we were expecting, we were literally shocked.”

After they lost their baby in October 2018, the pregnancy came as a big surprise to the young couple. She explained: ‘I couldn’t believe it and just cried. We were scared, but life is very precious and we are so thankful for this. Sometimes we are a little nervous, but we will just be grateful. “At that time, Josia’s brother Joseph and his wife Kendra announced that they were expecting their first child. Lauren revealed that the due date of their baby is only a week and a half after Kendra was ready to give birth. Kendra spoke about the pregnancy news in the confessional. from Lauren and Josiah and said, “Finding out Lauren expected … and her due date was just a week and a half after mine was super exciting.” She explained that since Lauren’s miscarriage it was difficult for Kendra to be happy with knowing her own pregnancy, she “really hoped for a baby.” She went on, “So finding out they were pregnant also made me feel better.”

Although it was a long and difficult journey for these young parents to finally get pregnant again after their heartbreaking miscarriage, they never gave up hope that they would have a baby themselves. This month the Duggar family grew when Kendra gave birth to her daughter, just eight days before Lauren had her baby.
