Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton recently met to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday in Trooping the Color.
The Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge showed a united front on Saturday as they rode in the same carriage together with Prince Harry and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, on the way to Buckingham Palace.
The occasion marked the first public appearance of Duchess Meghan since the photocall after the birth of her and Prince Harry’s son, Archie Harrison.
The sisters-in-law seemed at ease, said British journalist Emma Forbes, whose father, filmmaker Bryan Forbes, reportedly had ties with the royal family.
She told the People magazine in an interview that was published on Wednesday: “Everyone smiled and looked happy.
“It was a real moment of continuity,” she added.
It was recently speculated that members of the royal family were at odds with each other after it was announced that the family would break the charity of the Royal Foundation so that the couples can concentrate on their individual charity work.
On the balcony of Buckingham the couples stood opposite each other across the Queen, while Prince William and the three children of Prince Duchess Kate – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – stood in front.
Forbes thinks the relationship between Markle and Middleton has shifted now that the new addition to the family is settling. “I think Kate was very sweet in the beginning,” Forbes explained at the outlet.
“Meghan is not born of that or was not born into such a lifestyle, so I think Kate was a role model in the beginning of what you do. I mean, imagine how frightening it must be to go from actress to to be part of the English royal family and to know exactly what to do at an event, “she added.
The two women, both 37, also have a bond about motherhood. Duchess Meghan has been on maternity leave and spent time at her home in Frogmore Cottage, while Prince Harry has not taken paternity leave. He has been appearing steadily over the past month.
It is reported that the next public appearance of Duchess will be Meghan on Wimbledon. Last year she visited Kate to support her friend Serena Williams during the final of the tennis tournament.
