Meghan Markle wears five different shirt dresses in Africa

The Duchess of Sussex definitely has a uniform.

In the course of her royal tour of South Africa with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle stepped out in five different versions of a wardrobe classic: the shirt dress.

During her first day in Cape Town last week, the 38-year-old Duchess put on the blue Veronica Beard “Cary” style that she first wore in Tonga last October when she was pregnant with baby Archie, in combination with Castañer “Carina” wedge espadrilles ($ 120), earrings from Nina Bosch “Flora Leaf” ($ 26) and the turquoise turquoise ring from Jennifer Meyer ($ 250) that she wore during the trip instead of her engagement ring.

In the course of her royal tour of South Africa with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle stepped out in five different versions of a wardrobe classic: the shirt dress.

During her first day in Cape Town last week, the 38-year-old Duchess wore the blue Veronica Beard “Cary” style that she first wore in Tonga last October when she was pregnant with baby Archie, in combination with Castañer “Carina” wedge espadrilles ($ 120), earrings from Nina Bosch “Flora Leaf” ($ 26) and the turquoise turquoise ring from Jennifer Meyer ($ 250) that she wore during the trip instead of her engagement ring.

The next day she visited the Auwal Mosque in Staud’s “Millie” dress ($ 325), a maxi-length style in safari green. She formed it with Sam Edelman “Sally” flats ($ 99.95), a Cuyana cashmere scarf ($ 190), Alemdara’s “Altan” Hamsa necklace ($ 553) and Jennifer Meyer turquoise earrings ($ 600) that matched her ring .

Markle’s shirt dress continued in Johannesburg when she visited Victoria Yards in a navy-colored Aritzia Wilfred midi dress with buttons ($ 148) with red Everlane “The Editor” slingback flats ($ 155).

And a day later she connected a khaki Room 502 “Stephanie” shirt dress ($ 455) with her beloved Manolo Blahnik “BB” pumps ($ 625) and an Alemdara bracelet with angry eyes ($ 338) for a visit to Action Aid.

Finally, before flying back to the UK, the Duchess of Sussex reached for a version of white button-style linen, along with naked Stuart Weitzman pumps and earrings with Madewell tassels ($ 32) for a visit to the Tembisa municipality.

It makes sense that the much-watched royal woman would be attracted to the shirt dress (and his chicer big sister, the trench dress). It is simple, structured and easy to dress with colorful accessories, as Meghan Markle proved with her choice of jewelry during her journey – plus, it is a one-piece outfit that packs well.

Just something for a new mother en route.
