A spectacular light show electrified the night sky in southern California on Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service said that nearly 1500 lightning strikes struck in just five minutes.

The weather service also gave tips on what to do in case of a strong lightning.

Fantastic photos taken by the Santa Barbara County fire brigade reveal the electric light show in the sky over the historic Stearns Wharf.

The incredible screen caused devastation at Los Angeles International Airport for inbound and outbound flights.
