A man in a white Lexus reported being stolen from a police officer from the port of Los Angeles. He led the authorities on a chase Friday and reached speeds of over 100 mph in a chase that stretched from Monterey Park to Mission Hills.
The driver of the stolen car – presumably a Lexus sedan – began to flee the Westward Foothill (210) Freeway just after 3 p.m. for the transition to the highway 170 to the north near Freeway.
SKY9’s Stu Mundel reported that the vehicle belongs to a law enforcement officer and possibly has that officer’s weapon in the car.
It was reported that the vehicle had a gun when it was stolen in Rosemead on Thursday night. It was not immediately clear whether authorities had removed a gun from the vehicle.
The authorities carried out a PIT maneuver around 3.20 pm. and pushed the vehicle onto the shoulder of the 5 Freeway in the Sylmar area.
The suspect then surrendered peacefully to the authorities.
