It goes without saying that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not your ‘average’ couple.
Their schedule is full of international tours, public appointments and royal events, with the media viewing every movement around the world.
But when they are not engaged in royal duties, Harry and Meghan sometimes enjoy something approaching a ‘normal’ date – like their trip to the theater last weekend.
On Saturday evening the Sussexes attended a performance by Tina: The Musical – inspired by the life of pop star Tina Turner – in London’s West End.
The official Twitter account of the musical confirmed the presence of the royal couple in a tweet on Sunday.
“We were delighted and honored to welcome the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to the show last night,” they wrote.
According to royal commentator Omid Scobie, the members’ visit was “private [and] unexpected”.
“A show source tells me … that they ‘really enjoyed’,” he tweeted.
The Sussexes had met the Tina-cast during a visit to the Royal Variety Performance at The London Palladium last November, with the promise that they would come to see the show.
Leading actress Adrienne Warren was clearly delighted that they were fulfilling their promise.
“They said they would come and they did! Thanks to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” she tweeted after the show.
“It was an honor to once again get the chance to play for you!”
This is not the first time Harry and Meghan have enjoyed a ‘date night’ in the theater – not surprising given the background of the Duchess as an actress and her new role as royal patron of the National Theater.
The couple has already been to Hamilton on the West End twice and reportedly had seen The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time on one of their first dates together.
With their first child expected to arrive next month – and their move to Windsor threatening – the Sussexes might need to be advised to go into as many theater visits as possible.
