Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend, Cressida Bonas, is engaged to a man who happens to be called Harry.
The 30-year-old beau, Harry Wentworth-Stanley, shared the big news on Instagram Sunday, revealing a photo of herself and the British actress / model embracing in Nantucket, Massachusetts, while showing off a big rock.
“We’re getting married,” read the caption.
Wentworth-Stanley quickly received numerous good wishes on social media, including from James Middleton, the brother of Kate Middleton, who is married to Harry’s older brother, Prince William.
News.com.au shared that Wentworth-Stanley, which she reportedly met at the university, does have a connection with the British nobility. He is said to be George Mountbatten’s stepson, 4th Marquess of Milford Haven, standing in line for the throne and a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, Harry’s grandmother.
Harper’s Bazaar reported that the couple has largely kept their romance out of the spotlight and may have been outdated for more than two years. The magazine also noted that the two were paired a while ago before Bonas started dating Harry.
Bonas dated Harry, 34, about three years after his meeting in 2012.
Although the British press insisted that there might be an engagement going on before the breakup, the British Telegraph noted that Bonas reportedly struggled with the media control that followed her while having a royal relationship.
Sources also claimed that the repeated speculation about a wedding was “the last straw for the couple’s relationship.”
“It is very sad that they have decided to split up, but this is a completely friendly divorce and they remain the very best friends,” a friend of the couple told the Telegraph. “This gives Cressida the opportunity to focus on her career …”
“It is not something that is easy for everyone – going out with a royal relationship or getting married in the family,” Bonas’ brother Jacobi told the Evening Standard in 2012, as reported by news.com.au. “She’s not a tough cookie at all. She’s a sensitive, sweet girl.”
Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of the Majesty magazine, has been taking care of the royal family since the 1980s and has written more than 20 books on the subject. According to news.com.au, the 71-year-old commented that Bonas was confronted with living in public interest while dating Harry.
“[Cressida] just said it was terrible, because every time she walked down the street, she heard people criticize her,” Seward claimed. “They took out their phones and took pictures of her … I mean, this is just a normal, pretty girl, and she just couldn’t handle it. She just thought,” Why do they get me? “
“There was no way she wanted that kind of attention and that’s what she told Harry,” was the royal biographer Katie Nicholl. “Harry did not want to do things. He was in love with her and he tried to convince her that they could make it work, but Cressida was determined. She canceled the relationship because she knew in her heart that this was not what she wanted Harry got a real blow when she said, “I can’t do this.” I think she really broke his heart.
Despite the split, there are no hard feelings between the two. Bonas was present at the royal wedding last year where Harry married the American actress Meghan Markle in May 2018. She was also invited to the wedding of Princess Eugenie, Harry’s cousin, with Jack Brooksbank in October 2018.
