The British succession line is not that hard to understand. Everyone has a place in line, and when the person passes you, you take the throne.
At present Queen Elizabeth is the ruling prince. After her death, her eldest son, Prince Charles, becomes king. When Prince Charles dies, his eldest son, Prince William, gets the crown. Then it passes to his oldest child, and so on. Very easy? Well, not so much.
Although the ruling monarch in the UK is certainly not elected by members of the public, the times seem to change the way they were for many years in the past. Becoming king or queen is no longer a right as it was for Queen Elizabeth more than 60 years ago.
It appears that there are new reports that the duke and duchess of Cambridge do not automatically become king and queen after the death of Prince Charles. Are Prince William and Kate Middleton really entitled to the throne?
Becoming a monarch used to be a given
In the past, everyone knew on the day that someone was born that he was a future king or queen. As it passed from one generation to another, there was really no question who would become the ruling monarch.
Nowadays, the International Business Times reports that it is no longer a right. Royal expert Katie Nicholl says that instead of just being honored, Prince William and Duchess Kate will have to prove that they are worthy of the British throne. This is a perfect example of how the monarchy becomes more modern and Prince William and Duchess Kate will have to show everyone that they will certainly live up to their expectations.

Although they are unlikely to be king and queen for a few years, Prince William and Duchess Kate are already doing an excellent job of proving that they can serve their country well. They have an enormous number of fans, who draw huge crowds when they appear.
According to CNBC, they are truly committed to their royal duties and perform them with the dignity we expect from them. Both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge do extensive charity work and are involved in organizations such as the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the National AIDS Trust, the Countryside Foundation for Education and more.
They reach out to people in need, visit schools and hospitals and do everything to make a positive difference in the world.
Prince William and Kate Middleton avoid scandal
Although the British gossip magazines can be quite hard, the duke and duchess have managed to keep out of the negative spotlight. The Mercury News reports that there was recently a cheat scandal involving the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but for the most part they are a fairly drama-free royal couple. Everything they do is well received by the public and the news media, and they are great at maintaining a positive image.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined dog handlers at the Army Canine Centre in Islamabad, as they trained dogs to recognise and scout out hidden explosive materials, before taking some of the puppies through their paces on an agility training course. The centre at Islamabad is modelled on the UK Defence Animal Training Centre at Melton Mowbray — the UK has provided training and advice to the Pakistan Armed Forces for over 10 years, and is currently supporting the Pakistan Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) programme, which in part breeds and trains dogs to identify explosive devices. 📷 Kensington Palace #RoyalVisitPakistan #pakistan
