There is another royal wedding on the horizon – this time it is Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi
The Queen’s granddaughter, 31, announced Thursday her engagement to the multi-millionaire owned tycoon in a statement released by Buckingham Palace.
“The Duke and Duchess of York are pleased to announce the engagement of Princess Beatrice to Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi,” the statement said.
According to the palace, Mozzi suggested Beatrice during this holiday in Italy earlier this month. The couple traveled to Italy for the wedding of their friend Misha Nonoo in Rome, where Princess Eugenie, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were also present.
The wedding of Beatrice will take place in 2020.
Beatrice and Edoardo said in a statement: “We are very happy that we can share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to embark on this life adventure together and can’t wait to get married.
“We share so many similar interests and values and we know that this will be of great value to us in the coming years, full of love and happiness”
The couple released three photos that were taken by the future sister of the bride, Princess Eugenie. The proud younger sister, who tied up her own royal wedding last October, shared her excitement on her personal Instagram: “Beabea – wow! I am so happy for you, my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It was a long time ago and you are meant to do that. 📷 by me !! “
The parents of Beatrice, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, said: ‘We are very happy that Beatrice and Edoardo got engaged after we saw their relationship develop with pride. We are the happy parents of a wonderful daughter who has found her love and companion in a fully committed friend and a loyal young man. We send them all good wishes for a wonderful future for the family. “
In a separate Instagram post the proud mother wrote: “I know what a mother feels, so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are simply the happiest people ever to have two big sons-in-law, “Fergie added, also referring to Eugenie’s husband Jack Brooksbank
From the engagement photos that Eugenie took of her sister, Fergie shared: “Eugenie took the color photos because my girls are so close. Beatrice and Edo wanted her to capture this special moment. “

I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law. @princesseugenie took the colour photographs as my girls are so close. Beatrice and Edo wanted her to capture this special moment. The black and white photographs were taken by Misan Harriman
The parents of Mozzi, Mrs. Nikki Williams-Ellis and Mr. Alessandro Mapelli also responded to the happy news. “We are really excited about the engagement of Edoardo and Beatrice. Our family has known Beatrice most of her life. Edo and Beatrice are made for each other and their happiness and love for each other can be seen by everyone. They share an incredibly strong and united bond, their marriage will only strengthen what is already a wonderful relationship. “
Edoardo has a son from a previous relationship with Dara Huang.
“I wish Edo and Beatrice all the best and look forward to uniting our families,” she said in a statement.
Speculation began in November last year that the romance had blossomed between Beatrice and Edoardo.
Edoardo is a friend of the Beatrice family, a source that was previously told to PEOPLE. Despite rumors that they were recently introduced, they have known each other for years – and friends say that they absolutely did not have to undergo formal introduction to each other’s parents.
Edoardo is the stepson of Christopher Shale, who made headlines when he died at the Glastonbury rock festival in 2011. Shale, who was close to then Prime Minister David Cameron, was an old friend of Beatrice’s parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. Beatrice had known his stepson for many years – and went with her parents to Shale’s funeral seven years ago.
The two made their relationship red carpet official during the gala event of the National Portrait Gallery in March, where Beatrice wore a red velvet dress with a cinched belt detail while her boyfriend wore a classic tuxedo for the elegant date night.
Just a few days later the duo and her boyfriend got out of hand in New York City. They all smiled before the outing – which seemed to include shopping because Edoardo was carrying a bag from the John Varvatos boutique – and he even gave the cameras a thumbs.
The couple also spent time with Beatrice’s parents on their way to the Middle East for the Bahrain Grand Prix at the end of March for some ‘family time’ with Beatrice’s mother Sarah Ferguson and father Prince Andrew.
“What a joy to be invited to attend the Bahrain Grand Prix with @hrhthedukeofyork and Beatrice. Excited to meet @frankiedettori_, “Fergie wrote a selfie of the trip on Instagram, with the hashtags #familytimes and #luckyme.
