Sen. Rand Paul said he was Rep. Ilhan Omar would buy a ticket back to Somalia so that she “can come back and appreciate America more.”
Republican Kentucky commented on Omar, a Minnesota democrat who emigrated to the US in the 1990s, during an interview with Breitbart News Friday.
“I am willing to help buy a ticket for her to visit Somalia, and I think she can look and maybe learn a little bit about the disaster that is Somalia – that has no capitalism, no God-given rights is guaranteed in a constitution, and has about seven different tribes that have fought against each other in the last 40 years, “said Paul. “And then, perhaps after she has visited Somalia for a while, she can come back and appreciate America more.”
Paul’s comments follow weeks of controversy around President Trump’s tweets with four newly-chosen color congress women, New York’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressly, Massachusetts, Rashida Tlaib and Omar, Michigan to “go back and help with it.” solve the totally broken and crime-ridden places they came from. “
Three elected officials are American-born citizens. Omar was born in Somalia. She first came to the US in 1992 and became a citizen in 2000.
Despite the inaccuracies in the president’s tweets, the four women, collectively known as “The Squad,” have drawn republicans’ repertoire. At a campaign meeting in Greenville, North Carolina, Trump supporters sang “send her back” unanimously about Omar.
Trump regretted the hymn before returning to insulting Omar and her freshman colleagues, whom they called racist last week. Meanwhile, Republicans have remained silent in Congress instead of calling the president.
“Well, she came here and we fed her, we dressed her, she got well-being, she got [education], she got health care, and then, you see, she has the honor of actually winning a seat in Congress, and she says we’re a terrible country? “Paul continued in his interview with Breitbart.” I think that’s about as thankless as you can get. “
Omar still has to give an official answer to Rand’s xenophobic tirade, but she seemed to express her feelings about this by retweeting a message from comedian Tom Arnold.
“Imagine that you are Rand Paul’s neighbor and that you will be dealing with Rand Paul who’s cowardly circular nagging bullcrap lying on lawn clippings,” Arnold wrote Monday. “No wonder he lifted his toupee.”
The tweet is a reference to the real neighbor of Paul Rene Boucher, who pleaded guilty in March for attacking the senator in 2017. During the fight, Paul broke six ribs.
President Trump continued to attack color democrats this week. On Sunday morning, he called the city of Baltimore “disgusting” and “affected by rats and rodents,” and blamed Congressman Elijah Cummings from Maryland. On Monday morning, he followed Al Sharpton, a prominent civil rights activist and TV personality.
I have known Al for 25 years. Went to fights with him & Don King, always got along well. He “loved Trump!” He would ask me for favors often. Al is a con man, a troublemaker, always looking for a score. Just doing his thing. Must have intimidated Comcast/NBC. Hates Whites & Cops! https://t.co/ZwPZa0FWfN— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) 29 Temmuz 2019
Trump also accused the two of “playing the race card” and “hating whites and cops.”
