Reese Witherspoon Fangirls Over Jameela Jamil & Her Work as an Activist For Body Positivity

We are always happy to support women women, something our favorite Reese Witherspoon is a professional at. On Wednesday Witherspoon showed support for Jameela Jamil and her public struggle for body positivity. The love that Witherspoon showed for Jamil came from sharing her thoughts about a recent interview that Jamil had conducted with singer Lizzo.

Witherspoon took her Instagram stories to share her positive review of Jamil’s conversation with Lizzo, which took place in Jamil’s ongoing series The I Weigh Conversations as part of her online community, I Weigh. During that conversation both women opened up about the importance of self-love, their personal history with their weight and the highs and lows of fame.

Witherspoon seemed so moved by the conversation that Jamil and Lizzo had that she wanted to go outside and encourage others to listen inside.

“I came across this interview that Jameela had Jamil with Lizzo, that singer who is so amazing, and guys. This conversation was so amazing and inspiring about body positivity and I thought I’d share it with you so you could watch it ! “Witherspoon encouraged her followers.

Shortly after Witherspoon’s post went live, the I Weigh Instagram account re-posted the video and added the captions: “OMG! @Reesewitherspoon shouting the brown girls, me, @lizzobeeating and @dopequeenpheebs was a JOY to wake up to “

Witherspoon went on to sing Jamil’s praise in the video and said, “Every time Jameela Jamil talks about body positivity, I notice I’m just going,” Yes. Yes. That’s right.'”

The praise of Witherspoon is well-deserved for Jamil’s activism to correct the way in which bodies of all shapes and sizes are considered. Jamil has been open about her history of eating disorders and has said that her patterns of disordered eating were often cited by unhealthy images of female bodies in pop culture. Now in recovery, Jamil has dedicated her life to acting in the fight against changing how we talk about weight and how we value people of all shapes and sizes. In February 2018, Jamil created the I Weigh community, which encourages people to focus on their achievements and other positive things in their lives that are unrelated to their physical self, on Instagram. Since then she has spoken out against companies that make a profit from making products that facilitate unhealthy eating and eating habits for women and other celebrities who engage in similar behaviors, such as the Kardashians and their promotion of products such as slimming tea on social media.
