Princess Charlotte grinned when she arrived today for her first day of school, with the hand of mother Kate Middleton.
The four-year-old royal was “very excited” to start this morning with Thomas in Battersea, South London, when she entered the classroom with her big brother Prince George and father Prince William.
Duchess Kate, 37, held Charlotte’s bag – accessorized with a pink sequin unicorn – as they entered the classroom, while father William, 37, also held George’s hand.
And while Princess Charlotte smiled, she seemed to let the nerves come over as she hid behind Mother Kate and cut off her ponytail as they walked inside.
She shook hands with the lower teacher Helen Haslem, who squatted on her.
Father William told Mrs. Haslem that his daughter was “very excited” for her first day.
The Duchess of Cambridge smiled and asked, “How are you? Have you had a nice summer?” while Mrs. Haslem leaned over to shake hands with the children.
Charlotte starts today with the reception and joins Prince George, who is starting his third term at the school for school fees.
The school usually charges $ 7,900 a year – or about $ 24,000 a year – but Princess Charlotte is only charged $ 7,800 a year, or about $ 23,500 a year, because she gets a discount for her brother or sister.
The third in line before the throne is said to be “excited and proud” to show his sister around the school.
Charlotte, who will be known as Charlotte Cambridge, had driven to the school in the Land Rover Discovery and arrived around 8:15 am.
The princess smiled when she arrived in her brand new uniform of a pinafore with a white summer blouse and black shoes and white socks, ready to participate in her reception class of 21 other students.
Kate’s mother, who was wearing a stunning $ 265 Michael Kors midi dress, seemed excited when she helped with the first drop-off after missing the great day of Prince George in 2017.
At the time, she was pregnant with Prince Louis and suffered from acute morning sickness, known as hyperemesis gravidarum.
Prince William took Prince George to school while Kate stayed home, with cute pictures of the father carrying his son’s bookbag.
Both Charlotte and George’s first-day school trips were relatively quiet events, with huge crowds of photographers showing up for William’s first day when he was dropped off by Princess Diana.
Kate and William are said to be hands-on parents, both regularly spotted during the school run.
And it will be a big day for Charlotte, who is expected to learn French once a week at her new school.
Thomas’s Battersea, who describes himself as a Christian school and open to children of all faiths, believes in “praise as the greatest motivator.”
It is also taught that friendliness is just as important as academic success.
Art, ballet, drama, IT, French, music and physical education are all taught by specialized teachers from the first day of a child.
