Chet Coppock, the legendary Chicago sports cast who for decades was a flamboyant television and radio showman, died of injuries in a car accident in Savannah, Georgia, according to family members, writes Robert Feder.
Coppock, 70, was a passenger in a vehicle involved in the April 11 accident.
Here is a Facebook post from Coppock’s daughter, Lyndsey Coppock:
We lost our father, Chet Coppock, on April 17 due to complications from injuries sustained in a car accident outside of Hilton Head, SC. His death is unlikely, unexpected and painfully sad, but all we can do right now is to remember how lucky we were that such a unique and creative pioneer would help shape the adults we know he is so incredible was proud of it.
Our father’s wishes were a memorial service for friends and family to reflect on good times and to laugh and share memories from the past. If we have that information, we will share it as soon as possible.
Life is too short and you have never promised a new day. Tell your friends and family that you love them, you never know when your last moments will be with them. We love you, Dad, and we are so proud of you.
