Mackenzie Douthit McKee’s mother, 50-year-old Angie Douthit, discovered that she had cancer in January 2018. She fought in stage four brain cancer. However, her cancer didn’t seem to be getting any better. It only got worse. Angie’s cancer eventually spread to her lungs. But she never gave up and continued to spread the message of hope. and died on December 9, 2019.
The mother of the Teen Mom reality star was given a short time to survive. Mackenzie’s mother, Angie Douthit, remained strong and kept her faith throughout the difficult times. Angie was able to surpass the time she was given to live. Despite the odds, she was able to celebrate another birthday before she died.
Teen Mom Alum, Mackenzie McKee, Asks For Prayers and Donations For Mom
On December 6, Mackenzie McKee went online to give fans an update on her mother’s condition. Mackenzie wrote that “it doesn’t look good.” So she asked fans to keep her mother in their prayers. She said, “Please pray that she won’t hurt anymore.” She added that her mother is miserable.
Teen Mom’s Cast member kindly asked the fans to help her family with any costs. Mackenzie McKee wrote online that fans who want to help can donate to her mother’s race Paypal. But Mackenzie made it clear that they didn’t set up a Go Fund Me. Fans have donated. Mackenzie recognizes those who have helped. She “can’t believe how generous everyone is with donations.” Seeing everyone who is willing to help has brought Mackenzie to tears.
Angie Douthit Loses Battle With Cancer
In early December, Angie Douthit went online to provide an update on Mackenzie Douthit’s health. But it wasn’t good news. She discovered that her cancer has grown and spread to different parts of her body. Angie wrote that she ‘should be able to go home in the next few days’. Unfortunately, the situation was not ideal.
Shortly after that, the mother of the Teen Mom MTV star’s battle with cancer ended on December 9th. The news that Angie Douthit passed was shared by Mackenzie McKee with her fans. Mackenzie said that Angie spent her last days “lovingly surrounded by family and friends as they prayed, sang and shared funny Angie stories.”
Angie Douthit often went to Instagram to share her journey. In her almost two years of fighting brain cancer, she has never missed a daily post. In the caption of her last post, her family hopes that people “will be like Angie and use your social media commitments to make a difference rather than a disaster, to spread love and not hate and to always be kind.”
