Meghan gushed about her mom in a 2017 interview
Months before her engagement with Prince Harry in November 2017, Meghan wrote an article for Glamor, in which she mentioned 10 women who changed her life, one of whom was her mother.
“My mother is a yoga instructor, but she also does social work and she works specifically with the geriatric community,” Meghan wrote. “For me to view this level of lifelong sensitivity to care and care, but at the same time my mother was always a free spirit, she has dreadlocks and a nose ring and just ran the L.A. marathon.”
“We can have so much fun together and yet I will still find so much comfort in her support,” she continued. “That duality coexists in the same way as with a best friend.”

During the first public appearance of Meghan and Harry in September 2017, Doria and her daughter stood in the stands while Harry congratulated the athletes on their hard work at the Toronto event.
On the occasion, the mother-daughter duo seemed cheerful and happy, with Doria wearing a long-sleeved shirt, jeans and glasses, while Meghan opted for a light-colored jacket and a completely black outfit.

After her engagement with Harry, Meghan hiked to Los Angeles in April 2018 to chat with her mother about her then-coming marital conditions. “She was in LA to visit her mother, to share wedding plans, and to show her mother’s designs of her dress,” a source told ET.
Doria later came to London to continue “to assist Meghan in planning the wedding” and “a first meeting with some of Harry’s family members,” the source added.

For the occasion Meghan wore a black Tuxe top, Misha Nonoo skirt, matching Sarah Flint heels and a bright blue Smyth peacoat. In the meantime, Doria, who adorably heard that she introduced herself as “Meg’s mother,” was amazed by brown pants and a matching top and scarf.

Doria is expected to have a prominent role in her grandchild’s life

After the news of Meghan’s pregnancy, Kensington Palace issued a statement on behalf of Doria, where she drowned out her excitement about her future grandchild.
“Mrs. Ragland is very happy with this great news and she is looking forward to welcoming her first grandchild,” the statement said.
“They plan to spend a considerable amount of time in their Cotswold home and Doria will play a prominent role in their family as the children’s grandmother,” a source ET said in November.
Earlier this month the Duke and Duchess moved to their new home, Frogmore Cottage, and reportedly planning to welcome Doria for visits often.
A source told ET that while Doria is not expected to move to London now, the new building offers them the space for Doria to make extensive visits here while getting to know her first grandchild.
