They’re Back! Meghan and Kate Return to Wimbledon 1 Year After Their First Joint Outing

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have a royal mother’s day!

The sisters-in-law were present on Saturday at the Ladies’ Singles Final at Wimbledon and made their very first joint outing (without their husbands!) After a year earlier.

Kate arrived for Meghan and was the first to arrive at the sporting event with a green Dolce & Gabbana dress, which she had previously worn during a royal tour in Canada with husband Prince William in 2016. Before the match, the royal also met youth players from Russia, Latvia and France.

Meghan accompanied Kate and smiled when she arrived with a white shirt with a button-down that she combined with a pleated white skirt from Hugo Boss.

She accompanied the two royal mothers for their fun day out, Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton, who was the first time that all three women appeared before the public together.

All three women gathered to see Meghan’s close friend Serena Williams play against Simona Halep in Romania.

Last year, Meghan and Kate made a long-awaited appearance in the royal box of Center Court for the same final match, when Williams failed to go to Angelique Kerber. The royal family coordinated their outfits for the event – the Duchess of Sussex opted for a summery blue-white striped shirt by Ralph Lauren with wide cream pants, while Princess Kate chose a dress with white motifs.

The outing on Saturday marks return trips to Wimbledon for Kate and Meghan this summer, both 37.

Kate surprised royal fans with an appearance at the tennis tournament on July 2 – but instead of taking her normal seat in the royal box, she walked to Court 14 to see British player Harriet Dart play American Christina McHale.

The royal mother of three – who wore a white shirt dress with buttons on the front, fitted with an Alexander McQueen belt, chic sunglasses and her typical eruption – later went to Center Court, where she was then on the first row of the royal box to see Tatjana Maria Angelique Kerber play.

Meghan applauded Williams two days later, sitting in the stands with friends Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis. The new mother to son Archie, born on May 6, wore the ‘Brea’ jacket from L’Agence with a pair of her favorite Outland Denim jeans (the ‘Harriet’, the same style she wore in Australia) and Finlay & Co.’s “Henrietta” sunglasses.

Both Meghan and Kate, who is also patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, have been present at Wimbledon for years. Meghan was previously present in the tournament in 2016, around the same time that she was set up on a blind date with future husband Prince Harry!

And Kate has said that the tennis tournament is “a typical part of the English summer.”

“I was really taken by Agassi and Sampras, Ivanisevic and Steffi Graf,” she said in 2017. “Those were the first memories for me.”

The royal mothers also got out this week for a large family outing. They brought all four children – including 1-year-old Prince Louis and 2-month Archie! – to encourage Prince William and Prince Harry in a charity wrist match.

A spectator tells MENSEN that Meghan stayed mainly in the shade of a tree with her son in her arms.

“She was watching him, there is no doubt about it,” one spectator tells MENSEN. “She kissed and caressed him and bounced him up and down.”

Meanwhile, Kate was chasing Louis as Prince George, 5, and Princess Charlotte, 4, kicking a football and showing some dance moves before he went to the car for a picnic.

It is a busy weekend for both royal women. Kate plans to return to Wimbledon on Sunday with Prince William for the Gentlemen’s Singles Final, while Meghan and Prince Harry will compete on the red carpet for the London premiere of The Lion King.
