A Petition was filed by Barack Obama fans to rename the section of Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th streets in New York after the former president. Coincidentally, this is the street where the famous building of today’s President, Trump Tower, is located.
“We demand that the section of Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th Streets be renamed” President Barack H. Obama Avenue, “the petition said. “Any address on this stretch of Fifth Avenue ( including Trump Tower ) should be changed accordingly.”
At the time of writing, more than 15,000 people have signed the petition. An instruction on the page explains the reasons for requesting a name change:
The City of Los Angeles recently honored former President Barack Obama by renaming a section of the 134 Freeway near downtown LA in his honor.
“We ask the Mayor and City Council of New York City to do the same by renaming a block on Fifth Avenue, after the former president who rescued our country from the Great Recession has achieved too many other achievements to be listed, and their two terms were completely scandal-free. “
This last part is clearly a deliberate fire in Trump, whose first two years in office were, to say the least, rather scandalous.
Of course, it is no secret that Donald Trump is no fan of his predecessor. Even before he was himself a presidential candidate, he did disseminated the “birther” to the best of the Democrats, and has been convinced that he is aroused by the hatred of Obama.
Only “President and Mrs. Obama have built a ten-foot wall around their DC villa,” he wrote on Twitter. “I agree, absolutely necessary for their safety, the US needs the same, slightly larger version!”
“It was not.” “The President of the United States” says our campaign? It would be Crooked Hillary because it’s all a big hoax, that’s why, and he thought! To have the address of an iconic tower as “Barack H Obama Avenue” would really be an insult
In order to approve the change of street name, the city council must approve the measure, and the mayor Bill de Blasio (a democrat) must issue final approval.
Name changes are quite common, so it is not unlikely that “Barack H Obama Avenue” will come at some point. Just last month, the council approved name changes that named streets after the Wu Tang clan, The Notorious B.I.G., folk singer-songwriter Woody Guthrie, and poet Audre Lorde.
But if it does go on, there’s no doubt that Trump almost immediately calls for his own road.
