‘Welcome to Plathville’: Who is the Plath family?

Welcome to Plathvile, the program that many people thought would replace Counting On has had a difficult start. TLC has aired only a few episodes of the new reality television offer, and family members are already talking about life on the farm and its idyllic nature. Without a crystal ball, he talked to Olivia Plath about life on the family farm, and he had absolutely nothing good to say about the family’s matriarch, Kim Plath.

Who is the Plath family?

The Plath family is the focus of the new TLC program, Welcome to Plathville. The program follows the life of the family that lives on a farm in rural Georgia. The 55-acre extension allows children to roam freely without interacting with the outside world. They have never tried sugar, do not know basic references of pop culture and have never seen television.

At the helm of the family are Kim and Barry Plath. Together they are raising more than a handful of children, two of whom are already married and out of the house. The Plath family suffered a tragic loss in 2008 when their 18-month-old son, Joshua, died in an accident. According to the family’s website, Joshua was outside with his mother while she took care of the agricultural tasks. She jumped into the family vehicle to move to the next tree and accidentally ran over the boy. He died before the paramedics reached him.

Now, with a TLC program currently broadcast, the family faces turmoil when Kim and Barry face their older son’s new wife face to face. Olivia, who was partially raised in the same ultraconservative Christian sect as the Plaths, is more “mundane” than the Plaths would like. He drinks alcohol, enjoys sugar and is apparently helping two of the young Plath get rid of their technology-poor lifestyle.

Olivia Plath claims Kim is mean-spirited and cold

For the new fans, the conflict seemed pretty basic. Kim Plath has the desire to keep her children in a lifestyle she thinks is right, and Olivia is taking them away from that. However, there seems to be more in history. Olivia claims that Kim is cold and mean. She claims that Kim Plath is also incredibly hypocritical. While he doesn’t allow his children to enjoy sugar or technology, Kim supposedly does.

Olivia told Sin a Crystal Ball that Kim Plath spends much of her time watching videos on her phone. Instead of caring for his great offspring of children, he supposedly delegates tasks to children who remain on the farm. The Duggar family has also been accused of appointing foster care for their older children. In fact, Duggar children have essentially admitted that they grew up among them.

Kim Plath allegedly runs the household

Olivia has shared a lot about Kim and Barry with Without a crystal ball. The program makes it look like Olivia broke into the scene and changed the life of the family. It seems that ball was already rolling long before Olivia married Ethan Plath, according to Olivia’s statements. Supposedly, Ethan was ready to abandon the family’s oppressive lifestyle when he met Olivia, and notes that he has a tense relationship with his mother. In fact, he shared that his mother has not hugged him since he was about 12 years old. He also states that she is selfish.

Kim is reportedly the member of the family in charge, and it seems that his participation in the movement without technology has been completely Kim’s idea. Both Ethan and Olivia claim that Kim directs the show and that Barry is simply on the road. TLC cameras seem to capture that well. Many fans have noticed that the family matriarch seems to be in control of the family, a departure from what is typically seen in ultraconservative Christian families.
