It’s time to grab some tissues, Grey’s Anatomy fans. As expected, the winter finale is coming up on Thursday 16 December and it looks like yet another tragedy could shake the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial. The Grey’s Anatomy season 18 episode 8 promo trailer has just hinted that Owen Hunt – and possibly Cormac Hayes – will die. So here’s the preview breakdown and what to expect next.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 episode 8 “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” promo trailer begins with a mini-refresh of Farouk Hunt . Megan Hunt’s son is not doing well, but Winston Ndugu offers him hope. He tells Megan and Owen that there is an organ donor and a heart match for Farouk. Meanwhile, Teddy Altman tells Owen she wants “eyes on the heart”, and Hayes says she’ll come along. However, the organ transplant goes horribly wrong.
In the Grey’s Anatomy preview, Owen sits in the passenger seat of an organ transplant van. Then the driver appears to have a medical emergency and the car crashes into the woods. The vehicle breaks down and some fans worry that Owen could die. This means that Hayes’ whereabouts are unknown. Although he seemingly said he was taking part in the trip, Hayes was not shown directly with Owen in the car.
Meanwhile, Miranda Bailey seems concerned. She tells someone off screen that she needs to know what happened. But no one has any answers. Then Meredith Grey says in a voiceover that something is “insane”, and no other context is given. Amelia Shepherd also expresses shock when she is in overalls. But again, we don’t know what she is talking about.
Nonetheless, the trailer for Grey’s Anatomy season 18, episode 8, suggests that the new episode, which will be released on December 16, will end with a cliffhanger. Just as the promo ends with another shot of a car crash, ABC tells fans that the winter finale will leave them “on edge”.
What Else Can Fans Expect From The Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Winter Finale?
While the promo for Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 8 had many fans worried about the possibility of Owen’s death, the synopsis for “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” doesn’t set up any scares. The press release courtesy of ABC reveals that the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial will be celebrating the vacations, and there are plenty of happy times ahead.
In the upcoming new episode, David Hamilton (Peter Gallagher) and Meredith will “prepare for a milestone” on their Parkinson’s disease project, which is in Minnesota. However, it looks like both Meredith and Amelia will be spending time in Seattle.
New photos from the December 14 episode show Meredith talking to Hayes. Amelia also talks to Jo Wilson, who just found out that Atticus “Link” Lincoln has had a huge crush on her in the past. But even so, ABC’s synopsis suggests that AmeLink isn’t over because Link hopes to “spend the holiday with Amelia and Scout as a family.”
Meanwhile, Levi Schmitt faces a “difficult decision during surgery” in the winter finale of Grey’s Anatomy. The new photos also anticipate a serious conversation between Maggie Pierce and Richard Webber.
