Royal weddings are watched by millions of people around the world, tuning in for many reasons. Some want to see all famous guests, others want to see what looks like a real fairy tale, but many fans tune in to see what the bride is wearing.
In 2018, fans were treated to two royal weddings when Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie were stunned in their coats, but which fans liked better and how did they compare to the dresses worn by other royals such as Princess Diana and Kate Middleton ? View the results of two different polls that produced the same results and see if you agree with which dress was chosen as the favorite favorite.
Meghan Markle’s dress
Following Eugenie’s wedding, Just Jared fans asked which wedding dress they liked best, the Duchess of Sussex’s or the Duchess of Cambridge’s.
Markle’s dress received many responses when she and Prince Harry tied the knot on May 19, 2018. The Givenchy number she wore by British fashion designer Clare Waight Keller was made of silk and had a boat neck. It was combined with a 16-foot long veil that took 500 hours to embroider.
The dress of the former Suits star, however, was the last of the three with 17% and received just over 2,000 of the more than 11,700 votes.
Princess Eugenie’s dress
Before her marriage to Jack Brooksbank on October 12, 2018, Princess Eugenie walked down the aisle in a Peter Pilotto dress.
The daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson decided not to wear a veil because the back of her dress made a bold statement. The dress had a low back that Eugenie chose to reveal the scars she got from a scoliosis operation she had when she was 12 years old.
“I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars,” said the princess.
Eugenie’s dress won more than 2,700 votes for 23% and achieved second place.
Kate Middleton’s dress
But the dress with the most votes in that poll was none other than that of Kate Middleton.
On her wedding day, Prince William’s wife wore a beautiful song from Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton, who reportedly cost about $ 400,000 to make. The dress had long lace sleeves that were made to pay homage to other royal brides.
In the years since the royal wedding of 2011, many women around the world have tried to duplicate Middleton for their big day.
The dress of the duchess achieved the number 1 spot and was the clear winner with fans for the Just Jared poll with no less than 59% and almost 7,000 votes.
Princess Diana’s dress
A more recent poll in 2019, conducted by The Express, asked fans to also vote for their favorite royal wedding dress. However, this survey included the dress of the deceased mother-in-law of Middleton instead of that of Princess Eugenie.
Middleton’s dress, however, still ruled the highest in that poll with 64% of the votes. The iconic wedding dress from Diana, designed by Elizabeth and David Emanuel, followed with 23% of the votes while Markle’s became third with 13%.
