Wild police pursuit in Central Florida ends in arrest

THE VILLAGES, Fla. – An alleged armed robber barricaded himself in a home in Central Florida for many hours on Tuesday before he left the house and led rescue sheriffs on a wild, fast pursuit.

Sumter County delegates said that one Tuesday morning a manager of a country club in The Villages reported that he had been approached by a man with a gun.

The manager got into a fight with the armed suspect, whom he identified as Brian Davis, an employee from another country club.

Delegates said Davis then fled to a house in the village of La Belle and barricaded himself inside.

After an hour-long stalemate, Davis fled in a white SUV, rushed through streets and finally down an unpaved road, where assistant sheriffs tried to stop him with a pit maneuver.

Davis went on, faltered through gates and drove through fields until he was finally surrounded by delegates and taken into custody.
