The View: Meghan McCain and Abby Huntsman feud

Meghan McCain was a guest on Andy Cohen’s nightly show Watch What Happens Live where he spilled tea on all the gossip.

“Abby and I have been friends for over 10 years. Our parents were friends in politics, we worked at Fox together, and part of the reason she came to The View is because we were friends. We’re still very good friends. We’re very close and I spoke to her just yesterday morning,” McCain explained.

The conservative co-host said Huntsman left the show because she wanted to help her father with his campaign. However, McCain dropped the bomb and acknowledged that there was a fight between them.

“We got into a fight, which is a very small fight and a fight between friends,” McCain confirmed. “All friendships have ups and downs and it was bizarre for me to have the fact that we got into a fight to be scrutinized by the media.”

Meghan McCain explained that she doesn’t know who The View’s leaker is, but for her it’s been “cruel” and “difficult” weeks for the show.

“It was really exciting that our friendship was used in this way by the media,” she added.

Cohen also asked if the reason McCain was angry was because he wanted to resign, but Huntsman beat her to it.

“No,” he said. “First of all, if I wanted to resign, there would be no crypticism. I’d say, “I’m out.” There wouldn’t have been a long, drawn-out thing.”

McCain addresses feud with Whoopi Goldberg

Cohen didn’t miss a chance to ask about McCain’s debacle with Whoopi Goldberg, the show’s moderator. If you all remember, in December 2019, things got very heated at the “Hot Topics” table when Goldberg shut McCain down.

“Do you ever want to hear a conservative perspective on the show? McCain snarked.

“Girl, please stop talking right now,” Whoopi Goldberg said.

“No problem,” said McCain. “I won’t talk for the rest of the show.”

“I’m fine with that,” Whoopi added to the audience whispers. “If you behave like this…”

Also, landlord Bravo asked how McCain felt during that heated exchange.

“It was tough,” McCain said. “I’ll say he was having a bad day and we talked about it that night and the next day. It’s live television and it’s a really stressful time for everybody. I love it. She apologized off the air, she apologized on the air. We all screwed up on the show. I forgive her and I love her and I couldn’t do the show… if she leaves, I leave.”

McCain has a soft spot for Whoopi and he doubled down saying he’d leave the ABC talk show if the show’s moderator left.

“Whoopi is the host of the show and my life there,” Meghan McCain continued. He always picks us up when we’re down.” If she jumps, I jump.” Whoopi is… I love her and I need her as a moderator.”
