Season 18 of “KUWTK” is in full swing. After Kim Kardashian West revealed that she and her sisters would shoot the finale individually in quarantine, fans were curious to know how they would do it.
KUWTK Is Being Filmed On Cell Phones
Farjam explained to Elle how she had originally planned for all members of the Kardashian-Jenner family to cultivate filming with their mobile phones. After being uploaded to a shared album, Farjam and her editing team would work their magic.
Farjam quickly realized that the plan would not work. “When [we saw the film coming], I thought, ‘People will get tired of seeing this [poor quality] film like this,” said the producer. “We needed to get him adequate space for interviews.”
To get better footage, Farjam brought in a cinematographer and a technician who set up secure (protective overalls and everything else) bright rooms and mobile phone tripods in the homes of Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian.
KUWTK: There Have Been Some Technical Difficulties
Typically, the skilled camera crews are tasked with filming the footage that makes Keeping Up with the Kardashians so interesting. Now, this responsibility is in the hands of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. According to Farjam, they are still working on some technical problems. “Sometimes you’ll hear them whispering, ‘Who would have thought that a cameraman’s work would be so difficult? Farjam shared. But this is exactly the kind of footage Farjam is looking for. “It’s gold. It’s stuff we want to include in the show.”
More phones were used to collect footage for the rest of season 18. Every Monday, showrunners deliver new phones to record for that week and pick up the ones used for the previous week’s footage. Farjam said each phone has an average of 16 hours of filming – which is just enough for the editors to create the plots.
