‘90 Day Fiancé’ fans praised Larissa Dos Santos Lima for her honesty

Larissa Dos Santos Lima has had a tumultuous period in recent years.

The rocky marriage of the 90 day Fiancé star to Colt Johnson soon fell apart amid several arrests related to domestic violence, public social media fights and quarrels with Larissa’s mother-in-law, Debbie Johnson. Shortly after, Larissa also fought online with her now ex-boyfriend Eric Nichols.

The mother of two also opened up about why her children are being cared for by family members in her native Brazil, as well as missing her children while she tries to build a life for herself in the U.S.; finally, Larissa recently revealed that she has been regularly harassed and cyberbullying by social media critics, all of whom are taking a huge toll on her mental health.

It seems that the 90 day Fiancé star is now taking steps to try and achieve better mental and emotional health. In a revealing Instagram post, Larissa reported that she was struggling to adhere to her prescribed medication because of her “lifelong struggle” with depression and anxiety.

In an Instagram story on 18 January, Larissa shared a deeply personal mental health confession about her recent social media silence.

“Hi guys! I know I haven’t posted as often as normal, or communicated with some of you as I used to,” began the 90 day Fiancé star. “For this, I apologize and I’d like to explain why.”

Larissa revealed that she often struggled with her mental health. The 90-day Fiancé star said the problem had recently become more serious than normal.

“As many of you know, I have depression and anxiety, which is often debilitating for me,” Larissa wrote. “I’m currently fighting gusts of depression and severe anxiety. This time it’s different because I recognize that I can’t stop taking my medication because I feel good.

The 90 day Fiancé star confessed that she often went on and off her prescribed medication and did not adhere to her treatment plan, further lowering her mental health spiral.

“I’ve been questioned about why I go on and off medication when it’s been a lifetime struggle, and that’s a fair question,” she wrote. “The answer is that I’ve been wrong to believe I know what to do for myself in this regard.”

Larissa concluded by explaining that she was “back on the wagon” as far as her prescribed treatment was concerned, and that she hoped to feel better soon, by writing, “I am back on a path of treatment and therapy. As of today it will take about 6 weeks before I see the positive results”.

When 90 Day Fiancé blogger John Yates shared a screenshot of Larissa’s post on his Instagram, @johnyates327, fans reached out with support for the 32-year-old Brazilian reality star. Many fans shared their own stories about not sticking to their planned treatment programs, much to their detriment.

“Fear and depression is severe. Keeping @larissalimareal in my prayers,” wrote a 90 day Fiancé viewer.

Another fan agreed, commenting, “I’m really proud of her for recognizing for her and many people, the medications that help are lifelong… She grows and learns. Good for her.”

Larissa’s casting partner, Leida Margaretha, from a previous season of 90 Day Fiancé, even offered her support, writing: “Sending love and support to my queen”.

‘90 Day Fiancé’: Larissa has been taking steps towards greater positivity in 2020

Since her divorce from Colt and her separation from Nichols, Larissa seems to be striving for a better life in 2020. After completing her domestic violence courses on behalf of the court, she announced that she had learned a lot about poisonous relationships and that she wanted to use what she had learned to raise awareness about domestic violence in the future.

Larissa also announced in 2019 that she had made up with Nichols and that the two were trying to be more civil and mature as platonic friends. The 90 Day Fiancé star even wrote a friendly Instagram post about her former mother-in-law, Debbie, in which she looked back on the positive times she had had with her during her brief marriage to Colt.
