Alabama Barker, daughter of Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler, is controversial for her looks.
Recently, the 18-year-old influencer was accused of heavily editing her photos with Facetune, a claim she fiercely shut down.
After a stunning photo on Instagram, a critic commented, “The Facetune amount is wild.”” Alabama’s sharp response? “Hate me cus you ain’t me,” accompanied by a clapping hands emoji.
This wasn’t the first time Alabama faced criticism about her looks. The young influencer has faced body shaming for years. She has had to defend her appearance, sparking talks about body image and self-acceptance.
Struggles with Body Shaming and Health
Alabama Barker has been open about her body image issues. She faced body shaming and accusations of plastic surgery. In the past, she admitted to getting lip fillers but denied any other cosmetic procedures. She also disclosed that she has a thyroid condition, which has led to fluctuations in her weight.
After being fat-shamed in 2023, Alabama took to TikTok to address the hate: “First of all, let me eat you up ‘cause I’m so fat… Paparazzi will purposely take pictures of you with your mouth open, middle of a sentence or any ugly picture they can get of you just for views.”
She explained her thyroid disease affects her weight. She urged others not to be ashamed of their own weight changes. “Once my thyroid is balanced and my autoimmune disease is balanced, I will go back to my normal weight,” she said, adding that her weight gain was just 5-10 pounds, a common occurrence for many women.
Responding to the Haters
Even after sharing her personal health struggles, some critics continued to target Alabama. In response, she doubled down on her message of self-confidence.
Alabama explained how difficult it can be to face such criticism, especially as a teenager in the spotlight. In July, she revealed on a TikTok Live that she had begun taking weight loss medication to manage her weight. She said, “I’m on weight loss medication because I’m tired of being fat and photographing like a damn ogre.””
Her openness about her body image struggles and health conditions struck a chord with many fans, who rallied behind her in support.
One fan commented, “Swear we are our own biggest haters because she’s absolutely beautiful,” while another wrote, “You are beautiful and sweet. Haters always gonna hate, because they are not you.”
