Michael Strahan has made it clear-he’s not touching ABC’s troubled GMA3 with a ten-foot pole.
New reports say the beloved Good Morning America host got a new job. This role aims to save the show’s struggling third hour. It has been struggling since the affair between former co-hosts TJ Holmes and Amy Robach. But instead of saying yes, Michael, along with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, reportedly shut it down fast.
“After TJ and Amy, it’s a toxic hour they want no part of,” one insider told the Daily Mail.
The drama behind the scenes is very real. Sources say all of the GMA3 staff-including its executive producer-were recently fired. ABC, desperate to reboot the struggling segment, reached out to its most trusted talent. But Michael wasn’t interested. Not even close.
“Toxic” and “Lacking Prestige”: Why Michael Strahan Walked Away
For Michael Strahan, this offer wasn’t just another job-it was a step down. Reports suggest that both he and his fellow co-hosts declined the gig because they felt GMA3 lacked prestige. One source revealed they would’ve needed a serious pay raise just to consider it.
“They are going to want a lot more money to do any extra work,” the source explained. “It’s not just Robin and George being asked to do more work-it’s the entire ABC team.”
Michael knows his value. With his current hosting duties on GMA, FOX’s NFL coverage, and The $100,000 Pyramid, he doesn’t need to jump into a media firestorm to stay relevant. And frankly, who can blame him?
DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim lead GMA3 right now. However, with changes behind the scenes and ongoing scandals, it’s uncertain how much longer the show will stay the same.
Strahan’s Comedic Blunder on GMA Has Fans Cracking Up
Even with all the behind-the-scenes drama, Michael’s charm on Good Morning America continues to shine-and so does his sense of humor.
On April 2, Strahan had viewers laughing after a hilarious moment of mistaken adoration. While interviewing the stars of the new film Sinners, he noticed the crowd screaming “Michael!” and wearing jackets with the letter “M.” Thinking the love was all for him, he later realized it was actually for Michael B. Jordan.
“I was so excited when I came in this morning,” Michael joked. “I walked in, people are screaming ‘Michael!’, they have these jackets with ‘M’ on it… Then I realized, YOU were here!” he laughed, pointing to the Black Panther star.
Jordan quickly shut down the awkwardness with a warm, “You’re getting love too, cut it out man.”

Robin Roberts Supports Michael Through Daughter’s Cancer Battle
Behind the scenes, Michael has been dealing with something far more serious-his daughter Isabella’s battle with cancer. And through it all, Robin Roberts has been there for him, not just as a co-host, but as a friend and fellow survivor.
“Robin told me something that really helped,” Michael said in a recent interview. “She said, ‘At some point, you wake up and you just live. You don’t even think about it.’”
Isabella, now back at USC and modeling again, is in recovery after undergoing chemotherapy. Michael opened up about the toll it took on him as a father: “As a parent, you’re used to being able to protect your kid through anything… Many sleepless nights and tears.”
But he stayed strong-for her. “You have to be a cheerleader, and that was tough… You do what’s necessary.”
