The competition on “Rock the Block” Season 6 headed to the great outdoors in its snowy sixth week. Teams were tasked with transforming vast backyards under the “bigger is better” theme.
Reigning champions Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis returned as judges. However, some of the big ideas have sparked even bigger fan debates online. Viewers are sounding off on controversial choices and stunning omissions.
Rock the Block: CONTAINER CONTROVERSY!
One team’s decision to use a shipping container for a casita/ADU has become a major talking point. While some acknowledged “the casita/ADU is such a good idea,” many found its appearance deeply unappealing. “Why a container instead of something a bit more pleasant to look at?” one social media user asked.
It was dubbed an “eyesore on the outside” and likened to “a big dumpster behind the house.”
Speculation arose that it was a “plug/ad for the company,” “Bob’s Containers,” especially with huge lettering on it.
Some fans questioned the fairness, with one asking, “I don’t understand how it’s not cheating to get that fully outfitted container as a ‘favor’?” The practicality for an HOA community was also debated.
Lyndsay? Leslie?? Goats?! Tonight's penultimate #RockTheBlock episode may just be the most chaotic of the season…

Rock the Block: Fans Stunned by Shocking Lack of Outdoor Kitchens!
Perhaps the most universal shock among viewers was the near-total absence of outdoor kitchens. “I’m surprised no one has commented on the lack of outdoor kitchens. Isn’t that like a basic requirement on HGTV?” a fan exclaimed.
Another added, “not even a barbecue in sight.” This omission was seen as a “huge miss,” especially in a state like Utah where outdoor living is prized.
Rock the Block: Backyard Blunders & Wins
Specific design choices drew a mixed bag of reactions. The “Aloha yard,” presumably featuring the container, was criticized for its “37 different kinds of rocks and gravel.” Fans called it “hodge-podgy” and “cheap and non-cohesive.”
One team’s greenhouse, however, was praised as “beautiful” and a “brilliant idea,” especially with a dining table inside. A built-in hot tub on a covered porch was also lauded as a “great idea.”
Rock the Block: Fence Frenzy vs. “Useless” Features: What Do Buyers REALLY Want?
The inclusion of a fence by one team was a popular move. “I think a fence adds much more value,” a commenter stated. Many agreed it made the property look “finished” and was a “necessity.”
However, other costly features like in-ground trampolines and pickleball courts were deemed “overly specific” by some. “Who needs an outdoor shower, pickleball court or cold plunge?” a viewer questioned. This led to debates about what truly adds value for an “ordinary purchase.”
Rock the Block: Native Plants Neglected?
Environmental considerations also came up. “It bummed me out that no teams really did anything with native plants,” one fan shared.
Another noted the lack of discussion about “the local climate, annual rainfall, etc.” in what appeared to be a dry Utah setting. The use of sod, a “huge water suck,” was particularly criticized.
Rock the Block: Alison & Michel’s “Bad Vibe” Has Fans Talking
Some sharp-eyed viewers noticed tension between teammates Alison Victoria and Michel Smith Boyd, beyond design. Comments mentioned a “bad vibe” between them.
One viewer said, “Oh, I really think they despise each other” Another fan saw Alison take a “huuuuge side step” away from Michel for seemingly no reason.

Who needs it? No one. Do I now more than ever want a pickle ball court in my yard when I saw they can be prefabbed like that? Yes!!! I just priced them out. With and outdoor shower too. yes, with an acre of land, sticking the hot tub on a tiny deck was not the best idea. It should have gone down below under the stars. It would have been MY favorite yard though I would want a fence. They all should have started with a Fence of some size for children or dogs to play safely in. Privacy is everything to me in a property. Those yards did not feel private at all. Too bad the only fence came with a truly specific and pricy kids playground. I would pass on that house. I personally don’t see anyone using that green house for enteratining. It is valable for plants in the desert though. They also needed a fence for the goats; which they noted were popular for that area.. I can see why they won. The containers were very ugly to look at. She should have glad them with something to hide the container. I think the show secured fast acting permitting with the county for production purposes. Did she get it for free as a favor? That would not be fair, especially when it comes to the final apraised value declaring a winner. I think viewers are starting to find her obnoxious. Others noted that not single person did an outdoor kitchen or could remember even seeing a grill. This week was a mess.
