Scheana Shay from Vanderpump Rules and her husband, Brock Davies, are considering a second child. On September 13, during her podcast, Scheananigans, she shared this. They welcomed their daughter Summer in April 2021. Now, they’re exploring options, including surrogacy.
“I froze my eggs. We’re deciding right now,” Scheana, 39, shared with her listeners. A crucial part of that decision came after Brock’s recent fertility check-up. “My husband just got his sperm evaluated,” she said before adding that the news was better than they expected. “The doctor said he’s never seen sperm so good.”
Brock ignored advice against cold plunges and saunas before his test. Yet, his sperm count was 191 million, well above average. The Mayo Clinic states average counts are 15 to 200 million per milliliter. This news has sparked talks about their next steps, including surrogacy.
Considering Surrogacy and Exploring Other Options
While the fertility news is exciting, Scheana Shay also expressed concerns about the outcome of using her frozen eggs. “What if I have six embryos and we only want one more kid?” she pondered. The couple isn’t rushing the process but is preparing for the long road ahead, including weighing surrogacy as a viable option. “We’re having a surrogate talk,” she admitted.
Scheana’s concerns about carrying another child stem from her traumatic first pregnancy. After Summer’s birth, doctors found she had pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome. They caused life-threatening complications. Following that, Scheana has openly shared that she’s unsure if she’s ready to carry another child. “I’ll be turning my eggs into embryos and considering a surrogate, adoption, or taking our chances,” she said in a past interview.
The Vanderpump Rules star emphasized the need for balance after experiencing postpartum OCD. Her fear of leaving Summer with anyone but close family strained her relationship with Brock. This added complexity to their decision-making.
Brock’s Perspective on Expanding Their Family
Brock Davies has a daughter, Winter, and a son, Eli, with his ex-wife. He has always supported whatever decision Scheana feels is best for their family. He shared in a June 2023 interview with Us Weekly that they weren’t putting pressure on themselves to have another child right away. “We’re gonna table [baby No. 2] for now…we’re just enjoying this next year of really building up what our family’s gonna be.”
However, now that Brock’s sperm count is off the charts, the possibility of expanding their family has reignited discussions. He’s excited about their daughter Summer and the idea of giving her a sibling, but both he and Scheana want to proceed with caution and careful planning.
