Sheridan Smith to Star in New Thriller Series, The Castaways

Award-winning actress Sheridan Smith is set to make her return to the small screen in Paramount+’s newest drama, The Castaways. The UK-based thriller, which is based on the best-selling novel by Lucy Clarke, will consist of five 60-minute episodes, exclusively available on the streaming network.

Sheridan Smith will star in the leading role of Lori, alongside Belgian-British actress Céline Buckens, who will play her on-screen sister Erin. The duo will start filming in Greece and Fiji next month for the high-stakes drama.

The Castaways follows the sisters on their trip of a lifetime to Fiji, which turns into a nightmare when Lori’s plane crashes, leaving no trace of the passengers. As Erin tries to uncover the truth, Lori struggles for survival in a remote island. But as time passes, it becomes clear that one of the passengers will stop at nothing to keep their secrets hidden.

Delighted Author and Cast

Lucy Clarke, the book’s author, expressed her excitement that Paramount+ had picked up the story, saying that the adaptation promises to be incredible. She praised the scriptwriting as “electric” and said that Smith and Buckens were “perfectly cast as Lori and Erin.”

Céline Buckens also expressed her enthusiasm for the project, saying that she was thrilled to bring Erin to life. She added that the scripts bring depth and darkness to the arresting premise, and she hoped audiences would be hooked, as she was reading it.

Sheridan Smith commented on her role, saying that she was excited to be working with Buckens and to be a part of such an amazing production. She also joked about playing Shirley Valentine in the West End and finally getting to go to Greece.

Details of the show’s premiere date are expected to be released by Paramount+ in due course.
