The Brown family of TLC’s Sister Wives didn’t exactly have an easy time after moving from Las Vegas to Flagstaff, Arizona in 2018. Almost all of Kody Brown’s four wives had to move more than once or even several times, as problems with owners and unexpected sales by property owners repeatedly emerged in the following months.
In the March 29th episode of Sister Wives, “The Heat Is On”, Kody’s first wife, Meri Brown, was preparing for yet another move into a new apartment when the situation was almost catastrophic. Severe forest fires near Meri’s house left her shaken and stressed.
The entire family, including Kody Brown and all three of Meri’s sister wives (Janelle Brown, Christine Brown and Robyn Brown) hastily packed up Meri’s most valuable possessions in preparation for a potential evacuation. In the heat of the moment, Meri took it hard on Kody’s third wife, Christine.

With the stress of her imminent move – one of many in Flagstaff within months – already bothering her, Meri Brown explained that the forest fire had become a kind of breaking point for her. Not only did she have to pack for the move, but she also suddenly had to find all her most valuable possessions to save them in case of evacuation.
“There’s a forest fire burning for a few days,” explained the star Sister Wives. “And yesterday it started to get really bad. I just got word that I’m on a pre-vacuation alert. They’re all warning everyone to prepare for evacuation.”
Kody, his wives and many of the Brown boys gathered at Meri’s property as the fires raged nearby, hoping to retrieve and pack what they could, especially family heirlooms and antiques that had been in the family for generations. Meri Brown explained that it was a heartbreaking scene and panic for everyone.
“It’s really a bit menacing, seeing all the helicopters, firemen flying around,” said Kody’s first wife.
“Looks like a war zone,” added Kody’s second wife, Janelle. Janelle Brown explained that the fire had spread over a terrifying 1,000 acres of land in just 36 hours, making the situation even more unnerving.
Sister Wives: Kody Brown’s First Wife Lashed Out At Christine Brown During The Move
The tension has become strong enough to cause a fight or two between Meri and her sister wives. As Meri frantically searched through the boxes of her things inside the family moving van, Christine approached her with a carefree comment.
Meri Brown turned to his sister wife and snapped hard, “Be serious. Don’t joke around.” “Stop,” Christine said, beginning to ask what Meri wanted him to do to help her. “You need…” “Don’t tell me to stop!” Meri Brown screamed, her voice creaked with emotion and fear.
But Christine Brown remained calm, seeming to realize her sister wife was just stressed out from the scary moment. “Honey, do you need anything?” she asked. “Yes, I need my house moved.” Meri responded emotionally, starting to crack up. “Don’t make everything funny right now!
“I’m not, honey. I’m not doing anything funny,” Christine reassured her. Eventually Meri broke down and sobbed into Robyn’s arms, seeming to collapse under pressure.
Janelle Brown told the producers of Sister Wives that it wasn’t Meri’s fault for being so stressed, explaining that she seemed on the verge of a serious crisis. “Meri is definitely… she’s almost at the end of her career,” Janelle complained. “And who wouldn’t be? I mean, the stress must be overwhelming, because she has a very limited amount of time.”
