In 2023, TikTok user Lexi Weinbaum became popular. She used her platform to share her story. This detailed her survival and her shift to a victim advocate. In 2015, at 16, Lexi suffered a frightening attack. It was by people she thought were friends.
The Incident
According to a series of TikTok videos, Lexi Weinbaum recounted that she had gone with a female friend to a male friend’s house to smoke weed. After smoking what she believed to be marijuana, she blacked out. When she regained consciousness, she found herself being brutally beaten. In her attempt to escape, her female friend kicked her down the stairs, forcing Lexi to run into the street screaming for help. When someone finally stopped to assist her, the friend who attacked her claimed that Lexi was experiencing psychosis.
As a result of the attack, Lexi suffered multiple seizures and cardiac events. A toxicology report later revealed that she had been drugged with opiates. In a follow-up video, Lexi’s mother described the aftermath, stating, “I’d never seen you like that in any way. You were just out of your mind.”

Legal Fallout and Moving Forward
Despite the severity of the attack, Lexi has chosen not to publicly identify her attackers. She disclosed that her friends had been “criminally charged” but never went to trial. Lexi explained that the attack was an attempt to blackmail her.
Advocacy and Recovery
Lexi Weinbaum has transformed her traumatic experience into a mission of advocacy. She uses her platform to help others who have faced similar horrors, turning her personal trauma into a source of strength and support for others.
“I turned those traumatic events into advocacy,” she said. “First on this platform, and then, eventually, it became my career.”
Currently, Lexi is working on a book and has become a prominent advocate for true crime victims. She founded Sound of Survivors, a platform dedicated to fostering ongoing discussions among survivors and providing essential resources to aid in their healing process.
