Barry and Kim Plath, stars of Welcome to Plathville, have ended their 25-year marriage. They have nine children together. Fans are now watching Kim and her family adjust to this new reality in Season 6.
Kim revealed that she and Barry “lost their connection.” They ended up leading separate lives. She decided to leave the marriage and is now exploring dating. She wants to find someone she has an “initial attraction” to, believing it’s time for a new partner.
Welcome to Plathville: A New Life, Filled with Loneliness
Kim admits her new life is both “free and independent” yet also “scary and lonely.” She sometimes feels “sad.” Before finding her current boyfriend, Ken, she shared her struggles. “I haven’t dated anyone for 25 years. Bill Clinton had recently become president, it’s been a while.”
Living alone in an apartment, Kim says, “Last year I asked Barry for a divorce and we’re still in process.” She knew she might lose friends and her children’s trust but felt it was worth the risk for a happier future.

Welcome to Plathville: Changes and Adjustments
Initially, Kim Plath planned to stay in the family home while Barry moved out. However, Barry refused to leave, so Kim moved to an apartment. She now faces new responsibilities, managing household logistics that Barry once handled. She admits, “It’s scary, it’s overwhelming.”
Kim has her children “about half the time” and has settled into a routine. She spends quality time with them, watching movies and homeschooling. “I do miss seeing them every day. But, that does make the time that we do have together that much sweeter,” she says.
Welcome to Plathville: Moving On
Despite her fears of being alone forever, Kim Plath found a new partner. She met Ken through her son, Isaac. In Season 6, Kim lives on a houseboat in Florida with her three youngest kids: Amber, Cassia, and Mercy. She enjoys the challenges and fun of houseboat living. “It definitely makes you think about what you really want to have with you and what you can live without.”
Kim eventually moved in with her boyfriend, Ken Palmer, in September 2023. Initially hesitant, she decided she needed a home independent of anyone else. But she later joined Ken in his $609,000 Florida home. The spacious log cabin-style house features four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and five acres of land. It also has a lounge patio, an in-ground pool, and a two-stall barn.
