90 Day Fiancé returned for season 8 in December 2020 with his usual combination of romantic promise and relationship drama. The TLC season has a combination of familiar faces with couples like Rebecca and Zied, Mike and Natalie, and Tarik and Hazel, but there are also new relationships.

Among the newcomers are Stephanie and Ryan, who hit the ground running with conflict, passion, and speculation about their relationship. In fact, Jovi Dufren, who comes from Louisiana, almost ended things with a Ukrainian woman named Yara Zaya, after she first met on a dating app, while Jovi Dufren was traveling abroad. Fortunately, things did not end for the couple, and TLC continued their journey winding. However, that does not mean that the rest of their broadcast time on the reality TV show was peaceful.

In the episode that aired on December 20, 2020, fans watched as Yara joined Jovi in his homeland. She met his mother, Gwen Dufren, who unfortunately was not very impressed with Yara. Gwen even went so far as to call Yara ‘selfish’.

When Yara Jovi’s mother, Gwen, met during the December 20, 2020 episode of 90 Day Fiancé, there seemed to be disagreement from the beginning. Jovi Dufren told Yara Zaya that they had been invited to spend the night at Gwen’s house, and Yara said she wouldn’t spend the night because she would feel uncomfortable.

Yara finally admitted, and during dinner, Gwen Dufren asked about their wedding plans, adding that Jovi’s grandmother and grandfather “would absolutely love to see” him get married, according to a TLC clip. However, Yara said she did not want to get married in Louisiana and called it a “wedding for one side,” preferring the idea of getting married in Las Vegas. Neither woman was impressed with how the conversation went.

Yara felt that Gwen Dufren was trying to “control” her and that Gwen Dufren talked too much about the wedding, even though she knew that Yara’s answer was “no” to a celebration in Louisiana. Meanwhile, Gwen was saddened by their plans and called Yara “selfish” because she did not understand how important this was for Jovi Dufren’s family.
