My 600-lb Life: Where Is David Nelson, The Star Of ‘My 600-lb Life,’ Now?

David Nelson, 30, from Idaho Falls, suffered due to his 763-pound weight. Living with his foster mother, Robin, he struggled with health issues.

Chronic pain, multiple painkillers, and a CPAP machine were daily challenges. His routine involved sleeping, overeating, watching TV, and occasional shopping trips.

His food addiction stemmed from a turbulent upbringing. Born to a young cocaine-addicted mother, David faced instability. Foster homes provided inconsistent care and insufficient food.

Adopted at six, his new family turned abusive. Violence led him back to food for comfort. Despite sports involvement, troubles arose at 15/16. Disowned after inappropriate gatherings, David faced more hardship.

Throughout his childhood, he sought comfort in food, gaining 250 kilos by high school. Engaging in football and wrestling kept him active. However, at 15/16, he faced serious issues. He was expelled from his family for throwing parties.

After losing 68 kilos to 695 kilos, she immediately qualified for surgery and Dr. Now asked her to lose another 30 kilos in the 2 months until the surgery. She was also asked to arrange to move to Houston with someone so that the gastric bypass surgery could be performed without a hitch.

However, the stress of moving to Houston and Robin’s work struggles meant David sometimes skipped the diet. He also confessed that the stress caused him to cheat on meals, but he tried different exercises, such as aqua aerobics, to continue his journey.

As a result, David gained back 38 kilos at the next follow-up, becoming 733 kilos. This caused him a lot of frustration and guilt as he felt he had let everyone down, especially Robin.

Even after trying for another 2 months, when he lost only 14 kilos, Dr Now then advised him to seek therapy to deal with his emotional stress, which was causing him to cheat on his eating. He also gave her another 2 months to lose 70 kilos and get clearance for surgery.

Psychotherapy was a game-changer for David. It helped him express his emotions freely. This newfound ability boosted his independence and self-esteem.

Gradually, David embraced independent living, handled his emotions, and embraced a healthy lifestyle. His efforts paid off as he shed a remarkable 155 kilos, reaching 608 kilos.

Dr. Now sanctioned his bariatric surgery, provided David stuck to his weight loss regimen. David’s progress has been remarkable. He now has a trainer, follows a healthy diet, and enjoys traveling.
