Tyler Cameron's mother was 'super supportive' of his 'Bachelorette' journey

After asking the fans for privacy earlier this week, Tyler Cameron is now more open to the loss of his mother, Andrea Hermann Cameron. The fan-favorite Bachelorette alum was interviewed by the Palm Beach Post, along with his brothers Ryan and Austin Cameron. The newspaper reported that Andrea died on Saturday, February 29 from a brain aneurysm.

Earlier, Andrea’s cause of death was unknown, but Us Weekly confirmed that the 55-year-old had been rushed to hospital for a health emergency. Cameron cancelled a Good Morning America appearance scheduled for February 28 to spend time with his family, and he asked the fans on Twitter to pray for his mother. It was a few days later that Cameron shared a public tribute to Andrea, which confirmed the news of her death.

“Today Heaven received an angel. We will love and miss our mother. She will live on because of us and because of those she has had an impact on,” Tyler wrote on Instagram. “While we mourn, we ask for two things. First, tell those you love that you love them, and second, please let us take this time to celebrate her life in private. Thank you for all your love and support.”

As fans saw during his Bachelorette hometown date, Tyler Cameron’s mother wanted the best for her son in life and love. Although the fans know Cameron didn’t end up with lead Hannah Brown, he kept his head high. “She was super supportive.” Cameron told Palm Beach Post of his mother. “But what was so great… she was supportive of [season star Hannah Brown] and everyone who was on that show, but she was also supportive of the random fans.” According to E! News, Brown has a heart-emoji commentary on Cameron’s IG-post in honor of his mother.

Cameron’s mom was proud to be by his side while he was increasingly in the spotlight, even when they attended the People’s Choice Awards together in November 2019. At the time she wrote on Instagram: “I love you Tyler! You are America’s treasure! Thank you for this wonderful experience!

Reflecting on that experience, Cameron told the newspaper, “It hurts because there were so many nice things to do along the way, but I’m thankful I was able to spend that kind of event and moment with her. This is beyond sweet and sour, and the fans are sending Cameron’s whole family a lot of support right now.

Andrea Cameron was ‘a mom to so many’

The Cameron family has been through a lot in recent years. As he revealed during The Bachelorette, Tyler Cameron’s father, whom he lovingly calls Pops, almost died from a health problem and spent time in a coma. Cameron told his father on camera during their touching reunion, “You getting sick was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to face in my life. Signing away your right to go into surgery killed me. I want you to see my wife. I want you to see my children.” Fortunately, his father was already recovering by then.

Now, losing their matriarch is probably just as difficult for the family. A source told Us Weekly, “Tyler’ is completely devastated and in shock. It doesn’t seem real. His whole family is as strong as hell, but their world has been destroyed.” Andrea, who worked as a real estate agent, was well known in their hometown of Florida, according to her children at the Palm Beach Post. As a child she organized parties and loved to spend time at the beach.

In an interview published on March 4, Cameron said of his mother, “She was the mother of many. His brother Ryan echoed this feeling, explaining, “My mother didn’t care who I was, where I came from, what I did, or anything else. She saw everyone as the same. She just wanted to help everyone and help them with whatever they needed help with.”
